Device functions

In private houses without running water, the question of how to provide yourself with water can be solved in two ways:

  1. Installing a pool / tank to be filled with imported water.

  2. Drill a well to the aquifer.

In the second option, water will be supplied to the house using a pump of the required power. But the fact is that the value of the water pressure during operation is too high to connect the pump directly to the internal water supply network. For this reason, a container with a hydraulic accumulator must be installed in the house, and the required pressure for supply will be maintained by the relay. This device makes it possible to automate the process of water supply in autonomous water supply systems.

Principle of operation

The device has a brass body with a special fitting for connecting to the water supply network, electrical relay and spring valves. Outside, the elements are covered with a plastic cover.

The scheme of operation is as follows:

  • The manufacturer sets the device to the lowest pressure limit of 1.4 bar and to the highest one - 2. 8 Bar.

    When the pressure in the accumulator is less than the minimum limit, the contacts are closed, and the pump begins to pump water into the membrane intermediate tank.

  • After the pressure exceeds the upper limit, a spring-loaded valve comes into operation, which is activated and opens the contacts in the relay. In this case, the water supply will be interrupted.
  • When there is a drawdown, the membrane begins to empty, and when the pressure drops and reaches the minimum threshold, the relay contacts close again and the pump starts to work.

Usually, ready-made pumping stations are included with the RDM 5 device, which consist of a tank, a pump, a battery (water) and its own control relay.

At the time of purchase, the station will be factory-set and ready to go, but it will first require piping / electrical connection and installation.

But finished products may not fit for a number of reasons:

  • Insufficient accumulator capacity.
  • The pump head is low and not enough to supply water to the required height.
  • A submersible pump is used and needs to be lowered into the well.

In these cases, the automatic feeding system will have to be assembled with your own hands from individual elements, and the pressure switch must be set up so that the work is coordinated with the storage tank.

Before purchasing and connecting, we advise you to study all the technical characteristics:

  • The pressure range is from 1 to 4.65 bar.
  • Temperature range - from 0 to +42 degrees.
  • Differential pressure (minimum) - 1 bar.
  • Power supply - 220 V.

  • Diameter of fittings - 15, connection - 1/4.

If one of the characteristics does not suit you, then you will have to look for other regulators. But as practice shows, the parameters of the device meet all the requirements of 80% of all autonomous systems.

Installation

As mentioned earlier, the installation of the pressure switch RDM-5 is carried out immediately to both systems - water supply and electricity. Installation is carried out permanently, since there is no need to move the device.

There must be a cable from the shield with a solid copper core, which has a cross section of at least 2.5 mm 2 . It is advisable to install a difavtomat or a machine + RCD in a bundle. The parameters should be selected according to the current and largely depend on the characteristics of the pump, since the relay has low power consumption.

Grounding must be present in the circuit, since the combination of electricity and water will increase the risks.

Lead the cables into the special glands located on the back of the case. You will find a terminal block under the cover. It will have 3 pairs of contacts:

  • Grounding - you need to connect the appropriate conductors that go from the pump and the shield.
  • "Line", i.

    e. f. terminals " Line " - required in order to connect the neutral and phase wires from the shield.

  • Pump wire terminals - are usually located higher on the block.

There is nothing unusual when connecting - the conductors will need to be protected with insulation, tightened with a clamping bolt.

Check if the conductor is firmly clamped. After half an hour or an hour, you can tighten the bolts, because a material such as copper is quite plastic and the contact can weaken.

Pipeline

There are various ways to install the RDM 5 pressure switch to the water supply system. The simplest option would be to install a special adapter with all the pins. The same system can be assembled from other types of fittings, but the finished version is easier to use.

In such a scheme, at high flow rates, water will enter the system directly and bypass the accumulator. It will start filling after the taps throughout the house are closed.

Adjustment

Adjustment of the pressure switch RDM 5 is performed only after installation and connections to the pipeline and electricity. The connections of indoor and outdoor pipelines must be tested so that leaks that may appear later do not interfere with the adjustment. Due to the fact that the joints are leaking, the pressure can begin to decrease by itself, and this will affect the operation of the device.

Before starting the adjustment, determine the required head. To supply water at all points of the tap, which is located on different floors, it is required to maintain the required pressure in the membrane. The efforts of the tank accumulator must be sufficient to push the entire volume of water to the required height and overcome resistance. For home conditions, the pressure value will have to be determined only by experiments.

The calculation is easy: 1 meter of lift will be equal to 10 meters of the horizontal section and have a pressure of 0.

1 bar. The furthest branch of the water supply should be taken into account. When you roughly determine the head, you need to create this pressure from the side of the accumulator air chamber. To do this, remove the plastic cap from the spool, which is usually located at the end of the tank and, using a conventional pump for a car, pump the chamber, while controlling the pressure with a pressure gauge.

Next is the adjustment according to the instructions:

  1. Do not connect the branch pipe of the internal water supply network, but first check how the relay functions together with the pump at the factory settings .

  2. Remove the relay plastic cover that covers the adjusting screws.
  3. Using the large screw, adjust the upper limit at which the pump will shut off, and small the pressure drop.

    The lower limit must be adjusted so that its value is 0.2 bar higher than that pumped into the accumulator.

  4. To find out the exact values, the adjustment will have to be carried out several times, and at the same time, open the taps on the mixers in shifts and drain the water. At the same time, record the readings on the adventure / pump cut-off pressure gauge and make adjustments using the adjusting screws.

As a result, the difference between the upper and lower limits will be at least 1 bar.

As practice shows, the optimal differential is 1.5 bar and then the pump will not turn on too often. After adjustment, you do not need to immediately put the cover back in place, first you need to monitor the operation of the system during the day, since there is a possibility that adjustment will be required.
