BT-177 paint and enamel - technical characteristics, application

BT-177 paint and enamel - technical characteristics, application BT-177 enamel and paint: characteristics, description, properties of materials. A paint such as BT-177 is often called silver - this is the purpose under which it is known to most people. The tool is required to protect metal products from damage, and especially if they are not used indoors and when the temperature changes.

Silver-colored BT-177 enamel, the technical characteristics of which cannot but rejoice, is a suspension in consistency, and also includes a varnish based on bitumen and aluminum powder. Silver is the easiest and most convenient way to work on metal - the paint will help prevent rust on the surface.

Application of the product is allowed on products and other materials - plastic, wood and concrete.

General information

Scope of paint

The tool is very often used for outdoor and indoor work. It also has excellent refractory properties, and therefore it is used to coat boilers, furnaces and other products, as well as structures made of non-ferrous and ferrous metals, which must be operated at an elevated temperature level. Due to the presence of aluminum, the paint cannot be used inside children's hospitals and other rooms with high safety requirements. The material is often used to paint columns, garden equipment, profile fences, car disks, gates and pipes.

Please note that the agent cannot be used when the surface is heated more than +90 degrees. Do not use to paint containers where water will be stored, and do not apply to oil-bitumen, oil, alkyd coatings, as well as nitro enamels.

Previously, silver was produced in a single color that matches the description. At the moment, there are other shades, or rather, bronze, golden, copper paint, and dyes are additionally introduced into them. Due to the variety, the agent helps to give the product excellent decorative qualities, the appearance of the surface is greatly improved.

Other advantages of the paint and varnish composition:

By the way, the material has water-repellent properties, and after staining it becomes much easier to care for the products. Serebryanka will not react to washing with SMS, cleaning agents, abrasives, and will not crack and crumble when rubbed. The excellent appearance of the paint will last for at least 3 years, and after that additional renewal of the paint layer will be required.

Characteristics and properties

The agent is made according to GOST 5631-79.Each of the parties undergoes the certification procedure and receives all the necessary certificates of conformity, as well as quality certificates.

The certificate must contain the percentage of components, and the paint and varnish product has this feature - the composition is prepared immediately before pouring from aluminum powder (from 15 to 20%), and bitumen varnish (from 80 to 85%), sold as two components (powder and varnish separately). In production, finely dispersed PAP-2 powder is used, or a larger one, called PAP-1.

Technical characteristics of BT-177 are as follows:

  • The appearance of the coating is semi-gloss, even, without sagging, craters, defects, has a silvery or another colour.
  • Viscosity according to a special device called VZ-4 - from 18 to 35 s.
  • The proportion of solids is 40%.

  • Allowable application temperature is from +5 to +35 degrees.
  • Consumption per square meter ranges from 80 to 130 grams per square.
  • The flexural elasticity is 0.1 cm.
  • The layer thickness can be from 20 to 25 ┬Ám.

  • The spreading rate of the film is 0.03 kg / square meter.
  • The time for drying the film at a temperature of +20 degrees is 16 hours, and at a temperature of +100 degrees only 1/2 hour.

Before using the product, a primer should be applied, but the painting method without primer can be applied. For dilution, turpentine, solvent or white spirit is used.

Process details

Preparations for surface

BT-177 paint and enamel - technical characteristics, application Before applying the paint and varnish composition, you should first prepare the surface of the products correctly, and metal products should be cleaned of enamels and other old layers of coating, and for this it will be reasonable to use special removers. Next, the base should be putty and primed, if necessary. Before painting, the remainder of scale, rust, other dirt, grease and oil stains should be removed from the surface. To clean the base, it is allowed to use sandpaper, sandblasting machines and other methods.

Method of application

To use paint, you will first need to thoroughly stir the composition.

Next, check the working viscosity and, if necessary, top up with solvents (it is best to dilute the thickened paint with a solvent). The amount of solvent should be no more than a 1 to 1 ratio by weight. Make sure the surface is perfectly dry prior to application. Methods of air spraying, brushing or roller application are also used. The number of layers should be from 1 to 2, not more.

It is also important to take into account the recommended temperature level, and the humidity should be no more. Less than 80%. The temperature of the base itself should be no more than +16 degrees.

Please note that the surface must be dried for at least 15 hours, and only then the product can be used.If possible, hot dry for 1/2 hour, and then keep the coating at room temperature for another 3 hours and you're done!

Transport and storage

The guaranteed shelf life will be 6 months (the powder can be stored longer - up to 1 year, and the bitumen varnish separately - only 6 months).

Transportation is carried out at temperatures from -30 degrees to +30 on covered vehicles, but please note that after freezing, the product must be thawed for 24 hours at room temperature and cannot be accelerated with a hairdryer or heaters!

Safety rules

The BT-177 paint is not explosive at all, but it is fire hazardous, because the composition contains flammable components. When storing it, it should be located away from sources of fire, heat, sun rays, and the container should remain tightly closed. When working, you should wear rubber gloves, and protect the respiratory tract with a respirator.

Indoor work is carried out only with good ventilation, and at the end of the work, the room should be additionally ventilated. Please note that aluminum can cause cancer and chronic diseases, so do not contact paint with food or utensils. The remains of the material cannot be buried, thrown away with ordinary household waste, or poured into the sewer - it is important to dispose of them according to the rules for the removal of construction waste.
