  • The correct choice of oven;
  • The thermal insulation material must meet the following parameters, namely not burning, be resistant to moisture, be bio-resistant and environmentally friendly;
  • It is necessary to choose a heater based on the conditions of the sauna;
  • Carrying out high-quality installation work.

    The insulation device starts from the ceiling, then the frame is installed, the crate is made. The seams between the plates must be sealed. The chimney is also insulated;

  • Correct thermal insulation of the floor covering. Floors can be made of either wood or concrete with tiled surfaces. When installing a wooden floor, insulation is first laid on the logs, and waterproofing is done on top.

    On top of which the wooden flooring is made and the topcoat is laid. With concrete, the installation of thermal insulation is carried out, a waterproofing material is placed on top, on top of which a concrete screed is laid, and then the tiles are glued.

Important : When installing the floor in the sauna, take into account its slight slope towards the drain.

What requirements should the insulation meet:

  • Ceiling, wall insulation, floor insulation. Material selection It should effective in terms of thermal insulation. Between the steam room and adjacent rooms there should be a material with good insulating properties to prevent large heat loss due to temperature differences;
  • Insulation material should be non-combustible;
  • Be moisture resistant;
  • Have resistance to fungal growth and mold;
  • Must be environmentally friendly and harmless to humans.

There is a huge variety of insulation materials in modern construction markets.

Insulation, depending on the origin, can be organic and inorganic. The former are extremely rarely used for thermal insulation of baths and saunas, since they cannot withstand high temperatures.

Materials that are not recommended for thermal insulation of steam rooms:

  • expanded polystyrene, which can only be used up to a temperature of + 75C;
  • always combustible extruded polystyrene foam;
  • having a short service life in glass wool moisture;
  • foamed materials - polystyrene, polystyrene, etc., which, when heated, can emit harmful substances.

The most alternative option is the use of stone wool insulation.

It possesses very good thermal insulation characteristics, non-flammable, ecological and resistant to high humidity. She is not afraid of rodents and insects, as well as rotting.

Basalt or stone wool comes in the form of a soft roll or pressed hard slabs. Plates will be more suitable for insulation, since they have greater mechanical strength.

The whole process of insulation can be divided into stages:

  • Warming of the ceiling.

    The ceiling is sheathed with a grooved board on which the foil is attached, followed by gluing its joints with foil tape. Then a wooden lathing is made with a pitch of the bars slightly less than the width of the insulation sheet so that it fits snugly against the frame. A layer of vapor barrier is placed on top of the insulation. This can be a material such as foil-lined penofol. The foil layer during installation should be directed towards the interior of the room.

    Next, clapboard is produced.

  • Wall insulation from inside the sauna . Insulation technology of walls is the same as of the ceiling, only before it is necessary to dilute electricity, set ventilation, plumbing and drainage systems. Then a wooden frame is made, on which aluminum foil is attached.Further, according to the scheme: an insulation material is attached between the crate, then a vapor barrier is placed, an additional layer of the crate made of 25 * 25 mm bars and the top sheathed with clapboard.

    When insulating walls, a single frame is constructed inside the room, and a double frame is made for the outer surface of the wall. Also, for interior decoration, 50 mm slabs are suitable, and the street wall is made with a thickness not less than 100mm.

Note: There must be an air gap between the insulation material and the facing, for which the double lathing method is used.

  • Floor insulation. After all communications have been completed, subfloors are equipped.

    The floor surface is cleaned and checked for evenness. If they are backfilled, then they do not need to be leveled. And when using sheet materials, it will be necessary to make a leveling cement screed. Then the floor is waterproofed with bitumen mastic and logs are laid. The space between the logs is filled with fine-grained expanded clay or expanded polystyrene sheets.

Note: Mineral wool is not used for internal insulation of sauna floors.

From above, the insulation layer is covered with waterproofing, for example, dense roll polyethylene. This is followed by the laying of a foil vapor barrier, and then the floor covering is laid. What sanded boards can be used for. Before starting work, you need to think over the location of the finishing material - vertical or horizontal.

The most practical option is to place it horizontally, and the crate for such a location should be be vertical. If you want to the finishing cladding vertically, then the frame, respectively, is mounted in the horizontal position.
