Characteristics of the profiled sheet and Overview of doors with finishing from the outside + Video Fencing of the territory of a backyard farm or a summer cottage is the main link in the system of protecting an object from unauthorized penetration of unwanted elements.

The fence consists of a complex of parts combined into a single whole : Foundation. Support pillars with cross-veins. Fence. Goal.

Additional elements of security are arranged on the fence, lighting and video surveillance system .

General information

The fence is made of various materials

  • Wooden boards,
  • bricks ,
  • steel mesh,
  • galvanized and painted corrugated board, the most convenient and popular material in this segment.

The use of corrugated board in the manufacture of gates and wickets gives them strength, reliability and beauty.

Characteristics of the profiled sheet

Strength of sheet material

The material is made of low-alloy steel.

The first and most important characteristic for corrugated board is the thickness of the metal. For the elements of the fence, 0.45 and 0.50 mm are taken as a basis. This is the best option.

Products will withstand wind and snow loads. For the price, not expensive material.

The next characteristic is the stiffness of the profile. It depends on the purpose of the material and the wave height. Decking by name refers to the elements for walls, this is the letter "C", and bearing with the letter "H".

These indicators are responsible for the presence of additional grooves on the profile waves providing an increase in the strength of the material with a constant metal thickness.

For understanding! The higher and more frequent the wave, the stronger the sheet. But when an additional stiffener is applied, the parameters of the material change for the better.

For fencing and finishing of gates and wickets, corrugated board with markings С-10, С-15, С-20 and С-21 is suitable.

Protective layers of corrugated board

To protect the metal from the harmful effects of the external environment, several layers of protection are applied to it:

  • Processing with base alloys zinc.

    Helps protect metal from corrosion. It is applied to the profile sheet on both sides. There are two methods of coating;

  1. Characteristics of the profiled sheet and Overview of doors with finishing from the outside + Video The cold method consists in the process of spraying zinc composition onto the surface of the sheet under the influence of electric fields. The method is not expensive, it is weakly held on the surface. Under the influence of weather conditions, after a short time, it fades and crumbles.

This kind of coating is used to further color the material.

  2. The hot method consists in the process of passing the metal through molten zinc in a special bath. The coating is durable, does not deteriorate from the external environment. Decking with such a coating can be used for the installation of fences without further processing. The only drawback is its faded appearance.

  • Polymer coating layers are the final layer of material protection, and they are also responsible for the appearance:
  1. Polyester polymer, applied in a thin layer. Has a wide range of colors. Over time, the color fades. Protects metal from chemical and mechanical stress.
  2. Pural polyurethane coating.

Impact resistant, more than 50 years of service life. Withstands temperature extremes. Multicolor material.

  3. Plastisol, a polymer coating protects the base of the material from ultraviolet radiation, from temperature extremes, from mechanical stress.
  4. PVDF, a polymer composed of polyvinylidene fluoride and acrylic.

It is the most reliable covering for corrugated board. Withstands low temperatures from the Arctic Circle and extreme desert heat. The material has a high price. Has a wide range of colors.

  5. Profiled sheeting with an imitation of the type of natural stone, brick, or a type of expensive wood, applied to it by means of offset printing.

Reproduces the coating based on photographs of natural objects and transfer of the image to metal. Service life up to 70 years.

Making a wicket from corrugated board

The wicket element is a mechanical part of the fence. It can be made to order from specialists. But if there is no such need for various reasons, then you can do it yourself with your own hands.

To do this, you must have a tool

  • Angle grinder with a set of cutting and grinding discs.
  • Means for measuring and controlling accuracy, tape measure and level.
  • Electric welding machine with electrodes for welding an existing type of metal.

Complete set of material for the wicket device

  • Steel corner with a shelf 50 x 50 x 5 mm or a professional pipe 40 x 40 x 4 mm.
  • Mortise lock.

  • Characteristics of the profiled sheet and Overview of doors with finishing from the outside + Video Closer.
  • Hinge hinges for 25 mm. 2 pieces.
  • Door handle with threaded stud for through installation.
  • Decking.

  • A water and gas pipe with an outer diameter of 160 mm with a wall of 3.5 mm. or a professional pipe 100 x 100 x 5 mm. For support.

Sequence of works

  1. The support is concreted into the common foundation of the fence.

This stage is carried out during the installation of all fence supports. It is arranged strictly vertically to a depth of 1500 mm. and a height above the ground of 2500 mm.

  2. The wicket frame is assembled on a flat surface. It can be a piece of land or a sheet of steel.

Assembly is carried out from pre-prepared parts according to the measurements corresponding to the opening of the wicket in the fence.

The wicket frame consists of two transverse corners 1000 mm long and two longitudinal corners 2000 mm long. The edges of the corner are cut along the front shelf at an angle of 90 0 . At the joints, the parts are fastened with tacks for the possibility of adjusting the dimensions.

  1. To mount the stiffeners, measure the distance from the corners of the wicket frame perimeter to the center of the opposite vertical part.

An indent is made to install a platform for fastening the lock. Then the parts are cut from the whip to the required length, the interfering parts of the shelves are removed with a grinder. Finished parts fit into places and are tacked by welding.

  2. A false frame or door frame is assembled in a similar way, but the inner dimension along the entire perimeter must be 15 mm larger than the outer dimensions of the wicket frame. The joints are tacked by welding.

Information! You can abandon the fake frame. It will be replaced by the installation of the upper and lower cross member. They are welded directly onto the support pillars and will fix the gates of the wicket for correct closing of the lock. But in this case, there may be gaps between the gate and the posts. The yard will be open to review.

  1. First of all, the details of the wicket are finally welded. Constant control of dimensions is carried out using a tape measure, a level and a square. At the end of the welding work, metal beads are removed with a grinding wheel.
  2. The mock box is then welded. The seams must also be sanded.

Attention! The bottom part is welded with the shelf outward. This is necessary for ease of passage.

  1. The finished frame is inserted inside the door frame, even gaps are set using wooden pegs. Awnings are welded.

Attention! During the production of welding work on the installation of awnings, it is necessary to remove the steel balls from them.

The discharge of electric current can weld it to the parts of the canopy. This will damage the mechanism.

If everything is done correctly, then after checking the operability for opening the gate on the ground, it will be dismantled. Metal parts are primed and then painted with oil dyes to protect them from corrosion.

  1. The false frame is welded to the supporting posts strictly vertically.

Level control is constantly monitored. Areas with layers of paint damaged by welding are reworked.

  2. A sheet of corrugated board is attached to the frame of the gate leaf by means of self-tapping screws for metal or a special riveting machine. A hole is drilled under each hardware. It should be smaller in diameter.

  3. At the last stage, a knob-shaped handle and a mortise lock are installed. It is bolted onto a mounting plate made of 4 mm metal sheet according to the dimensions of the lock body.
  4. The wicket door is installed in its place. A thick grease is introduced into the canopies. The gate is ready to work.

Making gates with corrugated board finishing from the outside

The process is difficult to complete alone, so you need to involve a couple of assistants. The parts are heavy, and the gate area is several times larger than the wicket. Massiveness is due to the work that this mechanism will have to do.

Types of gates

  • Swing gates and sliding gates with one leaf.
  • Swing gates with two leaves.

Differences in the type of gate opening drive

  • With an electromechanical drive. They are installed on one sash and two. For a sliding structure, a special mechanism for bringing and retracting the door leaf is used.

Optional! The actuators are controlled in two ways, manual and remote, by means of a console system.

  • Manual opening method.

Materials used for the manufacture of gates

  • Steel corner with a shelf 75 x 75 x 7 mm. or a profile pipe 80 x 40 x5 mm. prepared according to the dimensions of the gate opening.
  • Canopies with a diameter of 50 mm. 6 pieces for two-leaf systems or 3 pieces for single-leaf gates.

  • Electromechanical drive systems with a set of necessary hardware and installation parts.

Attention! Systems with complex control and connection to the power supply are best left to a specialist. This avoids the breakdown of expensive equipment.

  • Profiled sheeting is cut to size.
  • Mechanical gate shutter.

Manufacturing process

The main stages of the gate structure assembly are similar to the manufacture of a wicket.

An additional condition is that gussets are welded in all corner joints for secure fastening. These are parts made of steel sheet 10 mm thick. They are cut out like a triangle with an equilateral base.

The mock frame is missing.

There is no need to make the structure heavier. Installation of awnings is carried out in a suspended state according to verified dimensions. They are welded immediately without further removal. It is better not to make mistakes.

The presence of cracks in the porches is closed by installing tarpaulin strips in problem areas.

And the sliding gate system has no such problem at all.

A powerful mechanical shutter is installed instead of a lock. The design is selected depending on the material of execution of the doors themselves.

Taking into account the large weight of the structure, installation on site is carried out using crane technology.

In special cases, the lower outer corner of the gate wing is supplemented with a support wheel.

This removes the weight stress from the entire gate leaf area.
