When making an estimate for a new tiled metal roof, you should remember that a separate line is required to plan and purchase additional elements for the roof made of metal tiles. Without small, but very important auxiliary elements, a tiled roof quickly turns into scrap metal. Complementary elements for roofing made of metal tiles must be installed at least carefully, and constantly monitor the condition, as well as update as far as possible.
Other methods to protect the roofing pie have not been invented.
The functions of additional extensions are not limited only to protection from snow and moisture, which blow into the gaps and slots of the roof covering.
Metal shingles, in fact, with their advantages, remains a very inconvenient material for processing. It is extremely difficult to beautifully bend the edges of a profiled sheet or make overlays out of it. For this reason, roof add-ons are an excellent method of decorating beautifully.

Naturally, the dimensions and shape of the add-ons are not taken from the ceiling, nor are they invented by a single company. At the moment, all additional components are included in GOSTs and SNiPs, which determine the device of those roofs, including metal tiles. There are such norms for staining and galvanizing. For example, GOST 302-46-94 for metal tile roofs and additional elements for it will apply to the polymer coating.
For conventional gable roofs with flat pitches, individual parts of the pre-sided type may not be used.
For example, the valley is installed only on complex composite rafters, where there is an internal angle, which is formed by the oblique intersection of a pair of slopes that belong to adjacent roofs, and adjoining strips are used on a roof with a brick chimney and parapet superstructures.
Please note that all accessories of the additional type for roofing from metal tiles are produced from sheet metal with the same thickness as the main metal roofing covering.
The reasons for this approach are simple. Firstly, it will be possible to save and stamp additional elements on the same equipment and from the same materials as metal tiles, and the use of metal with the same thickness significantly reduces the load on the screws and the sealant.
This is an upside-down corner shaped element with the same shelves.
The ridge complement is mounted on the top of the gable roof. The element will cover the gap or mating line of the two edges on top of the last row of metal tiles.
Construction of the ridge extension strip. This overlay is available in 3 variations:
- Standard, shelf length 15 cm with a folded edge of 1 cm.
- Shaped or decorative option, shelf length 11.
5 cm or 19 cm, bend of the edge 1 cm.
- Semicircular extension, height 8 cm, base size 16 cm, and width (mounting) 18 cm.
In addition to ridge-type pads, when arranging tops of the roof made of metal tiles, plugs are used that cover the overlays on the side of the gables. The covers are mounted inside the laid pads and fixed with silicone inserts. The assembly of the ridge, in addition to the seal and the lining, often includes a special aerator.
Structurally, it is made in the form of a V-bar with an installed annular window in the middle, which is closed with a cap.
Ridge seal. Another additional element of the roof is a sealing tape. Despite the fact that all manufacturers of metal shingles complete sets of gasket elements, construction salons prefer to sell tapes separately from add-ons. Usually, such a decision is motivated by the fact that the individual choice of the sealant is important, but in practice only one type of sealant can be used for a certain type of metal tile.
It is usually presented as a foamed polypropylene tape that is placed in the gap between the surface of the metal tile and the lower edge of the ridge-type strip. This way, it is possible to avoid rainwater flowing and snow falling under the roof in strong winds.
Film seals based on thin-sheet polyurethane are also often used. This element can not only stop water and snow, but also trap dust / debris, which suffers from roof ventilation.
A set of additional-type overlays for forming the inner corner of the valley is made of two elements.
First, the lower overlay is installed on the roof lathing. By design, this is a profile with a V-shaped section and the width of the shelves, which is equal to 29.8 cm. After the installation of the metal tiles at the intersection angle of the pair of roof slopes, the upper overlay of the valley is laid. In design, it is very similar to the figured ridge, but in a larger size.
The width of the main gutter is 8 cm, and the size of the shelves on the sides is 7.6 cm.
This type of additional element, together with a ridge strip and a strip eaves can be safely called the most important part of a metal tile roof.
If, in the absence of other additional elements, the metal tile does not suffer and will last for several years until the insulation under the roof gets wet, then in the absence of a wind lining, the sheets of metal tiles can be torn off the roof by wind gusts in the first heavy storm. The gable wind pad is an L-shaped element, profiled.
The dimensions of the horizontal shelf are 7.2 cm, 9. 5 and 11.7 cm, and the vertical part of the additional element is smaller - 7. 5, 8 and 9.
5 cm. The size of the lining is chosen according to the wave height of the metal tile and the thickness of the roofing cake. The plank is installed on the gable board at the last stage of the roofing arrangement. In this case, the horizontal shelf must be tightly pressed against the wave crest.

The most accessible and popular can be considered snow drag and corner barriers. If the roof made of metal tiles is very wide, then the most durable tubular snow catches are preferred to the towbars.
The first type is shortened, up to 0.3 meters with bent "legs" with stamps for fastening to the ridges of metal tiles. The corner view of the snow retainer is mounted on the roof using a specialized holder.
Structurally, this type of additional element is an inverted profile with a V-shaped section. Place the corners above the roof battens, in a cascade or checkerboard pattern.
This fixing method makes it possible to efficiently distribute the load on the roof sheathing. When mounted in a single line, the snow can easily crush metal shingles and even tear off the battens.
There is one more additional element for the roof and facade.
The gable element can be used to sew up the free space between the roof slope and the house wall. Often, craftsmen try to replace the pediment with pieces of a corner or other additional components, but this only spoils the external roofing appearance. If they come out very large, then an additional sheet set of grooved boards / plastic is required to be installed to the bar.
In addition to the described options, there is a junction strip, end, cornice, corner, roofing aerator, bypass of the chimney and a hood. Additional elements for roofs are made in such a way as to reduce the labor intensity of installation without the use of special equipment and tools.
Often, owners use corners and pads on the roof covering, even when there is no real need. In their opinion, dobras help to refine and improve the appearance of the roof in a way like no other finishing type.
