The depth of drilling a well for water is an important point that must be studied in advance. Its depth depends on many factors and terrain parameters.

Well depth

Important! Certain sources require a permit to drill wells and their use is subject to taxes. A well with a depth of about 5 m does not require registration and payment.

Wells with parameters over 15 m are subject to registration.

The Law of the Russian Federation "On Subsoil" states that drilling a well under water, as well as the use of sources from the first aquifer, is permissible without special registration. We are talking about sand wells and an Abyssinian well. Considering the geological characteristics of the soil, in some regions the maximum drilling depth is 35 meters.

The so-called core drilling on the sample, refers to the most reliable method for calculating the depth of groundwater.

If wet sand appears during work, this indicates that drilling must be stopped. A pause is made in order to wait until the channel is filled with water. After that, it is pumped out and a debit is set. If the necessary indicators are obtained, they begin to form the well. Insufficient calculation parameters indicate that drilling operations must be continued until the next layer of water.

Water indicators directly depend on the formation from which it enters the water supply system. Unfortunately, not all water can be used for drinking. Before deciding on the depth of well drilling in the area, it is necessary to understand the peculiarities and characteristics of the layers responsible for filling the wells with moisture.

The layers from which the wells are filled with water are subdivided into three groups:

  • upper water layer - the upper layer, the depth of which ranges from 4-7 m. There is no need to talk about the stability of the water reservoir, since it simply does not exist. Moisture is used for household needs, for example, for watering plants. The water is often cloudy due to the admixture of sand and other components;
  • the second layer is located at a depth of 10-18 meters. Drinking water enters the well from this layer.

    The groundwater flowing through the well filtration is much cleaner than from the well. In any case, the presence of toxic components and impurities, which are often observed during floods with the onset of spring, cannot be ruled out. Users note an unpleasant smell of hydrogen sulfide. Poisoning can be prevented by doing a laboratory study of the water for compliance with the standards of the sanitary and epidemiological station;

  • artesian water layers are located on the third horizon. The depth of occurrence varies from 25 to 40 m.

    The parameters depend on the landscape of the territory and reach 60 meters. Artesian water is the healthiest and cleanest, you can drink it without fear.

Types of water wells

Centralized water wells are divided into 3 types:

  • an Abyssinian well with water from the upper layers;
  • a hole in the sand and using a drill to reach the groundwater;
  • an artesian spring at maximum depth.

Abyssinian well and the drilling depth is 8-13 meters. The water is suitable for domestic use as well as food preparation.

The design feature is protection against the penetration of water from the upper layers into the source.

Drilling of wells on sand is carried out using the auger drilling method. The depth of groundwater is 15-20 meters below the soil surface.Passing through the sand, the water is purified and can be used as drinking water. The well can be operated at any time of the year on an ongoing basis.

After drilling artesian wells the purest water is extracted from them. The springs are equipped at a depth of 15-50 meters for private use, and up to 200 m for industrial use.

Stages of creating a well for water

Well construction is mainly done by professionals, but in some cases, the task can be handled independently, adhering to the sequence of actions:

  • determination of the type of drilling depending on the characteristics of the soil;
  • preparation of equipment and technology;
  • if necessary, install a caisson, dig pit of specified dimensions.

    The height is determined by the parameters of the equipment;

  • drilling the first section of the future well and installing the casing with the correct selection of materials, strength, which should be enough to withstand the pressure of the soil layers;
  • drilling the second section and strengthening with pipes;
  • reduction of the drilling speed upon reaching the layers of clay and sand, with the organization of pumping and cleaning the hole filled with water;
  • installation of bottom filters, after determining the quality of water;
  • unsatisfactory quality indicators liquids, imply the continuation of the drilling process to the next formation, which may be 2-4 m lower than the previous one;
  • fixing the casing after completing work with the drill and checking the tightness with the subsequent installation of the cover;
  • on at the last stage, a pipeline is laid to the place of water use.
