DIY installation - Step by step instructions + Video

DIY installation - Step by step instructions + Video Drainage well. With the advent of spring, many residents of private houses are faced with the problem of flooding the site and basements. Drainage should be installed only if your house is located on a low-lying surface, or the water level in the ground exceeds the level of the basement, or the basement of the building. Especially recommended for houses that are on a clay, earthen base, as it has the ability to deform in bad weather during the cold season.

A drainage well will help you out of this situation.

General information

Drainage well is a part of the drainage system. The main functions assigned to this element are system cleaning, control of work, as well as a water intake for a large amount of liquid for drying.

Functions performed by the drainage system:

  • reduces the level of water pressure on the floor and walls of the building,
  • prevents the occurrence of floods on the basement floors,
  • is a kind of dehumidifier of the local area.

DIY installation - Step by step instructions + Video It is recommended to install the drainage system even while digging the foundation pit for the building. Since it will be very inconvenient to do this afterwards, without damaging the outbuildings.

To install it, a trench should be dug over the entire area of the house at a distance of 1.5-3 meters from the finished pit, or an already built house.

Next, we lay a pipeline system there, in some places we install one or more wells for drainage. Their number depends on the diameter of the territory, the water level in the ground and the quality of the soil. Drainage should not be confused with a stormwater system, the difference between them is huge.

The storm system protects from rain and other precipitation, located on the surface. The drainage is installed on the same level as the foundation.

Types of drainage wells

Inspection well

What are inspection wells for:

  • DIY installation - Step by step instructions + Video regular inspections of the sewage system,
  • monitoring the health and status of the system,
  • repairs and cleaning the pipeline.

Wells of this type are installed in places with the highest degree of pollution. The sizes are selected individually, in accordance with the volume of the sewage system.

For example, in very large sewers, wells with a diameter of about 1.5 meters are installed.

Some people build small ladders into them for greater convenience, because in such a well a person can easily fit in full growth, which is very convenient when repairing pipes. The pipes are cleaned with a jet of water under pressure.

A subtype of this type of manholes are rotary systems that are located at the joints of pipes at the corners.

They are often installed through one corner. Before installing this design, it is worth considering the dimensions of the drainage well and the turning radius of the pipes.

Collector well

Its purpose is that it accumulates all moisture in itself. When filled, it is pumped into a gutter. It is a large diameter of a drainage well of about 1.

5 meters, into which the entire water supply system is installed. This type of well is most often built in a system for automatically pumping out water when filling.

Filter well

Used in areas where the soil has a low moisture level. The amount of pumped out liquid should not be more than one cube per day. The device of this well is radically different from the previous ones, in that it does not have a bottom.

He passes all the liquid through a kind of filter from dirt, after which it enters the ground.

What are they made of?

Wells can be made independently from concrete rings, the advantage of this material is relatively low price, but its installation will be very problematic. There is an option of buying ready-made plastic material and it is simple and easy to install it, but in this option the price rises several times. And which option to choose is only your decision.

When installing a drainage well made of concrete rings, you will probably need special lifting equipment, since concrete is quite heavy.

And it will be very difficult to make holes for installing pipes. But all efforts will be justified by the high reliability of such a well and a long service life.

Plastic structures also have a high level of reliability, and they are also very easy and simple to assemble by yourself due to their light weight. The holes for the piping are already prepared in advance.

Principles of the drainage system

DIY installation - Step by step instructions + Video high area, from this point and will be digging a trench, two meters deep.

Rotary wells are mounted in the corner areas, and inspection wells in the connecting ones.

At the end of the sewerage system, a filter well will be installed, in which water will be forced or naturally drained.

Special perforated pipes are recommended for drainage. They are not limited in installation, and they will be easy enough to repair.

For the sewage system to work in full force, it is necessary to perform some actions in advance:

  • Sand about five centimeters thick is poured at the bottom of the trench, and rammed.

  • The bottom and walls are covered with geotextiles, this will be a kind of filter.
  • A layer of gravel, about 10 cm. On top of this layer, the corrugated pipe is laid.
  • Another layer of rubble and geotextile.
  • Selected primer on top.

Plastic well

Techniques for performing the mounting process depend on the type of drainage well. For rotary, viewing and storage, we recommend making a base of concrete. For the filter, the bottom is not required at all.

To mount an already purchased plastic well, you should first prepare the surface. The principles of installation for this and this species are somewhat similar.

Inspection wells are necessarily located vertically, and storage wells can be in a horizontal direction. In addition, the collector view can be equipped with a special pump, where the pipes are diverted to the water intake.

Work before installing the well of the drainage system:

  • Deepening the surface by 0.4 meters, in the place of its installation.
  • A layer of sand and gravel, compaction of this layer.

  • Pouring with concrete.
  • Laying a layer of geotextile.
  • Installation of a drainage well, leading to the pipeline.
  • Manufacturing a hatch on top of a structure.

Concrete well

For such a well, it is advisable to purchase rings with a high level of moisture resistance, the depth is not less than two meters.

Self-installation of such a structure is impossible due to its heavy weight. If a person can freely be inside the ring, then first we put the ring, and then we dig the ground from it.

The concrete will press on the ground and it will sink. Therefore, it is possible to install several rings, placing one on top of the other, while fixing them securely.

Another method consists in preliminary explosion of the boiler, if the ground is soft, then fill the bottom of the pit with a gravel layer.

Only after carrying out these operations do we lower the concrete ring down.
