Enamel ML-1110 - instructions for use and GOST
To structural elements of metal and parts become strong, protected and durable, they must be painted.
For this, special paints and varnishes should be used, with which ferrous and non-ferrous metals will be processed. Very often in the field of industry, a type of paint and varnish material is used, such as ML-1110 enamel, which users quite often call automobile enamels.
So, ML-1110 is a paint and varnish material that is produced in accordance with GOST 20481-80. It contains alkyd and other pigments, resins, organic solvents and other components that make the enamel meet all technical characteristics.
The main area of application is painting the bodies and parts of bicycles, cars, buses and other vehicles. This enamel can be used for processing individual elements of the car, and for painting the body as a whole. The guaranteed shelf life of the paint and varnish material is counted from the date of manufacture, and will be one year. It is recommended to apply such enamel on a previously cleaned, primed and phosphated surface. And under the condition of a temperate climate, the painted coating will retain its protective technical characteristics for 5 years, decorative qualities will persist for 3 years.
If the painted part is used in a tropical climate, then the protective and decorative qualities will last no more than 1 year.
When working with enamels of this type, the following safety rules should be followed:
Please note that the toxic enamel is only when it dries and the time of application. When the painted layer dries up, it no longer poses any threat to human health.
After the ML-1110 paintwork material is applied, a layer is formed that corresponds to the following characteristics:
Enamel is produced in various shades, depending on this, the paint and varnish material will have a different gloss, in the range from 35 to 60%. ML-1110 contains from 48 to 66% non-volatile components (proportion). Here are the main technical characteristics of ML-1110 enamel:
.. 120 units.
Please note that at a temperature of approximately +135 degrees, the paint and varnish material will dry out in 1/2 hour. It is recommended to dry the painted layer hot.
This type of enamel is made in different colors. Moreover, in addition to blue, beige, black, brown, green and white, the following colors are also produced:
Next, let's talk about the process of applying the product.
Before starting painting a metal surface with enamel, it is necessary to carefully prepare the base. It should be cleaned of various dirt, grease stains, corrosion, rust, old paints and varnishes.
If there is a need, the surface must be polished with an electric grinder. To increase the protection performance of metal parts from rust, as well as corrosion, the surface should be phosphated and primed before painting. EP-0228 or even KF-093 solution can be used as a primer.
In order to dilute the agent to a working consistency, R-197 solvent is used. If the staining process will take place in an electric field, then compositions 2B and RE-1V can be used for dilution.
The paint and varnish material should be applied in two layers, each of which should dry for at least 1/2 hour with a hot drying method of about +135 degrees. For processing small parts, you can use a brush, and for painting large structures, use the spray method from a spray gun or even an airbrush.
Often buyers ask questions about the use of such paint and varnish material as ML-1110 enamel according to GOST. Here is a list of basic questions and answers to them:
- After the enamel is thinned, should you wait any time period before how to apply the mixture to the metal surface?
Answer: no need to wait, you should immediately start painting. After dilution, it is advisable to apply the paint and varnish material within 7 hours.
- After the painted layer dries, will it be hot?
The answer is no. The paint and varnish material will be flammable only when it is in a liquid form, and after perfect drying it did not have more fire hazard than other materials or even coatings.
- Is it possible to dilute the agent with the IZUR-021 solvent?
Answer: it is required to use only those types of solvents that are indicated in the instructions when using paint and varnish material so that the enamel can retain its characteristics.
