In modern construction, lining as a finishing material is very popular today. This is due to many different factors. This material is distinguished by its reliability and quality, and its installation does not cause any particular difficulties for builders. When carrying out external finishing work with hardware for lining, as a rule, nails and screws are used. However, if it is necessary to perform a neat installation, with the ability to hide all the fasteners, cleats become almost indispensable.
That is why they are used with equal success for both external and internal finishing work.
House, finished with clapboard "block house" with fasteners for kleimers
Kleimer is a special fastening element in the form of a bracket, mounted with nails or self-tapping screws on a prepared base - a crate, or directly on a wall. The cleaimer hook firmly fixes the lining, while allowing you to make all the fasteners hidden. This type of hardware is used for the installation of not only lining, but also plastic PVC panels and MDF elements.
Kleimer
Hidden lining fasteners for cleats have become so popular for many reasons:
All that is needed for installation is the staples themselves and the nails with self-tapping screws.
Kleimers fixed in the lining groove
Kleimers must be selected based on the type of lining used when finishing the room. It comes in a variety of thicknesses and weights, so the mounting brackets must be of the appropriate size and tongue height.
Here you will need six mm clamps.
Kleimers of different types
The most reliable clamps are 0.5 mm thick, made of galvanized become. Such kleimers are not afraid of corrosion and rust, they are durable and can be used with equal success for both internal and external finishing work.
As for the consumption of fasteners, then, as practice shows, to securely fix a square meter of lining you will be enough about two dozen staples.
But nevertheless, it is better to buy them with a margin, since the cost of kleimers is low.
The exact calculation of the required number of fasteners is carried out according to the following algorithm:
Before starting the installation, calculate the number of clamps required for work according to the above algorithm. Further, depending on the type of hardware with which we will attach the lining to the crate, we select the tool.
To install with nails, we need:
Mounting using self-tapping screws instead of a hammer with a metal head will require an additional screwdriver or screwdriver.

The wall on which we will create the frame, like the lining itself, is pre-treated with special antiseptic agents. This will help us avoid many unpleasant consequences, such as decay of materials and the development of fungal formations.
Quite often, lining manufacturers, even at the production stage, process its surface, covering the wood with a protective layer. The acquisition of such ready-to-use building materials greatly speeds up the finishing process.
The wood is treated with antiseptic agents according to the following algorithm:
We clean the surfaces from dirt and dust. In the case of boards, sandpaper does an excellent job with this task. For a deeper cleaning of the wood, we use special bleaching agents for the lining or wood stain. |

Priming the surface with acrylic, alkyd or polystyrene primer. Remember that polystyrene primer is only used for outdoor use, and acrylic is used exclusively for interior decoration. It is advisable to check with the seller about the alkyd primer, since their range is very wide. |
Priming the wooden surface |
Apply an antiseptic. For interior finishing work, we need a water-based impregnation. Any type of antiseptic is suitable for outdoor work. Remember that the durability of the entire structure depends on the quality of the product, so buy only certified impregnation.

At the final stage of processing, wooden surfaces are covered varnish. If the installation of the lining is carried out indoors, then alkyd or acrylic varnishes are suitable for us. Work outside the house must be carried out using acrylic-polyurethane varnish. |

Before starting the frame assembly, you need to outline the level according to which further crate will be made. After that, we decide on the direction of fastening the bars.
Remember that their orientation must be perpendicular to the lining mounting vector.
Facade lathing
The subsequent sequence of actions will look as follows:
Checking the level of the crate
.. When working with wooden lining, the optimal interval is 0.5-0. 6 m.
The lathing of rounded surfaces has its own characteristics and is made from parts of the timber. You can see the appearance of such a crate in the photo below.
Lathing of rounded walls
It is necessary to start work only if favorable conditions.
If you fix the lining in the cold, when the temperature drops below + 10 C, this will lead to its deformation.
The technique of carrying out work on vertical and horizontal wall cladding with clapboard differs somewhat. However, in both cases, it is necessary to achieve a tight fit of the spike into the groove using a padding board and a mallet.
The installation process itself is as follows:
Mounting the lining in the horizontal direction
According to the level markings we fasten starting board lining with nails or self-tapping screws | Securing the starting board (horizontal installation) |
Insert the clipper hook into the groove of the first panel. We screw the self-tapping screws into the nail holes of the kleimer with a screwdriver, fixing it securely on the crate.
|
Installing the cleaimer in the lining groove |
We put all subsequent boards with a groove on the comb of the first, additionally fixing with staples. For tight joining of the lining panels, we hammer them with a mallet and a tamping board. |
Trimming the lining with a mallet |
We cut the last board with a hacksaw, measuring the necessary width and nail to the crate. |
Slicing lining |
The nail heads of the starting and finishing boards can be covered with decorative corner or bite off with side cutters. |
Decorative corner |
vertical direction
Press the end of the first panel, on which the comb is located, close to the crate and nail it down. After completing the work, we bite off the heads of the nails with side cutters, or close them with a decorative corner. |
Fixing the starting board |
Insert the staples into the groove of the first board and fix their self-tapping screws (or nails) | Fixing the cleats with self-tapping screws |
Next panel we insert the lining with a spike into the groove of the previous one. We hammer it tightly using a tamping board and a mallet (or a rubber mallet). |
Using a padding board |
After the lining is firmly joined with the first board, again insert the cleats and fasten them to the crate. |
Fixing the installed lining with a clapboard |
Every ten panels we check the correct installation of the lining plumb line (level).
|
Checking the quality of the installation of the lining by level |
We repeat this sequence of actions until until we complete the plating process. The last board, if necessary, adjust to size, cut with a hacksaw. |
Lining trimming |
Note. In order for the kleimer to securely hold the lining, it is necessary to fasten it with at least 2 nails (self-tapping screw). Otherwise, there is a risk of deformation of the surface of the finish during further operation.
