Varnish for polymer coating (plastic) - properties of the product
Plastic doors and windows are usually painted under the color of the interior, and sometimes the coating with varnish or paint, makes PVC communications less visible.
Protect plastic surfaces from destruction and burnout by painting. The material has this feature - from destruction and burnout.
For this reason, it is worth knowing which varnish for plastic is best suited, and which paint will interact 100% with the surface.
The adhesion of the paint and varnish material to the base made of plastic is a quality that is worth paying attention to.
Polyvinyl chloride is characterized by a dense and hard structure, and also a slippery surface. Such surface properties will reduce paint adhesion.
In addition, a PVC paint is required that has the following specifications:
- Resistant to moisture.
- Coating strength indicators.
- Resistance to various mechanical damages.
- Tolerance to direct sunlight.
- Color stability.
- The harmlessness of the composition, as well as components harmful to health, which are not released after drying.
- Resistance to temperature changes.
- Long operational life.
- Color assortment and the ability to create different textures on plastic.
Most often, the coloring of polyvinyl chloride is carried out independently at home, and therefore an easy-to-use paint is required.
The result of the work will be a homogeneous coating that does not undergo deformation. The paintwork material dries quickly.
Special additives are usually added to the composition, which makes it possible to create different texture coatings. You can add pigments yourself and get the desired shade. The color should be selected from the manufacturer's proposed 2,000 shades.
You can also find traditional methods of design in color and unusual solutions - glitter is sometimes added to the composition, and also a metallic color is chosen, a pearl-colored coating is applied. Such coloring of profile PVC helps to add uniqueness and originality to the building or even its facade.
The coating can last at least 10 years under load every day, and since the paint and varnish material is not toxic, it will even be in a room with a terrible ventilation system. The composition of the polyurethane-acrylic type will create molecular adhesion on the plastic, which will make it possible not to remove the gloss from the painted surface, but to apply a new material on top. It is important that the coating will be of the same quality, wherever the PVC is painted - in the house or in the production workshop.
Varnish for polymer coating should be applied correctly. Whatever you paint - doors, windowsill or windows, any plastic surface should be prepared in advance.
Preparation work should be done in stages:
After that, at least 5 minutes, and no more than 10 minutes, you should wait for the surface to dry and the composition that is applied to evaporate. Then you can start painting the polyvinyl chloride.
Now a little about the coloring method.
Dyes for PVC should be applied to the surface using a spray gun. Pre-paint polyurethane-acrylic material should be completely prepared 0 add pigment and mix until a homogeneous composition is formed. Tinting is carried out before the start of coloring, and within two hours the viability of the dye is confirmed after mixing with hardeners.
Then fill the spray gun with it and pass it through a funnel-shaped filter.
When a factory container with materials is opened, there can often be a film on its surface. It must be removed and not mixed with dyes. The composition of the film type has solid particles of an insoluble type and if you do not remove them, the spray gun will constantly clog.
In consistency, the paint and varnish material will resemble thick sour cream, and everything should be diluted with water (add no more than 10%). The viscosity should be checked with a VZ-6 device, and the recommended viscosity level is 30 s.
Good advice! If the acrylic-polyurethane material had time to freeze during storage, then after it thaws, all technological characteristics will be lost. For this reason, it will not be suitable for further use.
Work should be carried out in warm, dry weather. The thermometer should be at least +6 degrees, and the air humidity should be no more than 80%. High air temperatures are unacceptable.
The thickness of the coating material should be from 80 to 120 microns. After application, the dye will not drain from the vertical surface, it adheres perfectly.
Usually one coat is enough, but if necessary, you can repeat the staining. The second layer is applied at the moment when the previous one has become semi-matte. If the air temperature is about +10 degrees, then it is enough to wait a 1/3 hour break between applying layers.
After 2.5 hours the coating will become dense, and after two days the material will completely dry out.
In special industrial workshops, plastic products will be dried at a temperature of +55 degrees. This technology is called forced drying, and the paint dries completely in 2 hours.
The metallic effect on the plastic surface is achieved in the following ways:
Between applying layers it is worth waiting for the drying time to about 3.5 hours.
A small plastic object can be painted with paint and varnish in aerosol can. Since the ingress of air into the container is completely excluded, there can be no film either.
Advantages of using spray paint:
This method of painting is often used for PVC surfaces in the car interior, but it still takes experience to get a uniform and even coating, and also spread over the entire area. Preliminary workouts won't hurt.
Acrylic varnish for plastic has excellent adhesion to PVC. But the service life of the coating can be increased if it is additionally protected with a glossy type of water-based plastic varnish. What's more, the product will get beautiful appearance and shine.
Such additional protection will be relevant for windows and window sills in the kitchen.
The impact of negative factors will also decrease. The protective layer should be applied with a brush, and there will be no difficulties in work, and therefore the varnish can be applied with your own hands. If the plastic pipe or window sill is located close to the fire source, then they should be covered with fire retardant paint and varnish material. These are special compounds that are required for coloring metals.
Before dyeing PVC products, calculate the required amount of dye. When measuring the area of the proposed painting, you can calculate the consumption of the varnish composition. You will also need to look at the data on consumption at the bank, and the sales assistant will help you calculate how much paint you should buy.
Despite the high cost, polyurethane-acrylic varnish is economically viable. Since only one layer of application of the product is enough, the material consumption will be small, and the coating will become durable, and thus, the expenses over the years of service will be justified.
The coating can last a long time if the dye is applied in compliance with the technology. Polyurethane-acrylic compounds are environmentally friendly, do not contain hazardous components for health. For this reason, they can be used in children's rooms, catering buildings and hospitals.
