When arranging a private house, special attention must be paid to the installation of the heating system. Gas boilers are increasingly being installed today. The comfortable living of the family depends on how high-quality the equipment is selected and how competently the work on its installation was carried out.
Professional installation also implies the correct piping of the gas boiler, which protects the heating system from uneven loads and ensures rational heating of all rooms in the house. In addition, the correct piping of the gas boiler guarantees a long service life of all equipment.
Speaking about piping a gas boiler, they mean the entire heating system (mechanisms and pipes themselves), except for radiators.
WARNING :
Gas heating equipment, if installed incorrectly, carries a risk of fire or explosion. If you are not confident enough in your abilities, entrust the piping of the gas boiler to a specialist.
Let's highlight the main piping functions:
Gas boiler piping elements:
Designed to prevent overflow of water due to an increase in its volume when heated in a closed heating circuit. There is a membrane inside the tank that divides it in half.
It combines the functions of an expansion tank, an air vent and a safety valve in an open system. By means of a tap, it is connected to the cold water supply system to recharge the circuit.
The choice of piping method depends on many factors: open or closed circulation mode, one-pipe or two-pipe wiring of the network, availability additional contours, whether warm floors will be installed and more.
IMPORTANT :
Choose only high-quality boiler piping equipment. It will cost you several times less than the constant repair of the heating system.
It is considered quite simple, it can be mounted by hand. In this system, the coolant moves with a feed slope exclusively according to the laws of physics. The heated water expands, becoming less in density and weight, and rises up the system. Its place is taken by cold water, which also begins to heat up, thus a continuous process of movement occurs.
The piping of the boiler will be inexpensive, since no additional devices need to be purchased.
Also, this system is easy to operate, breakdowns can be eliminated by yourself. Another nice advantage is that the system does not depend on the power supply, so it is not afraid of power outages or sudden blackouts.
ATTENTION :
The gravity piping scheme can only be used for floor standing boilers. In wall-mounted boilers, the principle of natural circulation cannot be realized due to the small diameter of the connection and the small heat exchanger.
Cast iron radiators are more suitable as heating devices for this system.
In aluminum radiators, the flow area is smaller, which makes it difficult for the liquid to circulate.
The main disadvantage of this scheme is that it can only be used for a small house up to 100 sq. m. It is also suitable only for single-circuit boilers. Many are confused by pipes above the floor or ceiling, it is still quite difficult to hide them, and they certainly do not decorate the interior.
Such a connection is also called a closed system. It is considered to be more efficient, although it costs more. In this system, the coolant moves forcibly using a circulation pump. The pipes have a smaller diameter than in the first system, so they are easier to hide in the interior. This piping can be used for both wall-mounted and floor-standing boilers.
Boiler piping with closed type includes a number of mandatory elements:
All installed devices require regular maintenance, which also makes this system more expensive.
TIP :
Since forced heating is volatile, you need to install it in such a way that in the event of a power outage, the system switches to gravity circulation mode.
Most experts are in favor of polypropylene pipes. They are versatile and very reliable, capable of lasting over 40 years.
Their material is resistant to high pressure, perfectly tolerates water hammer and temperature rise up to 95 degrees. In addition, the price for them is much lower than for pipes made of copper, galvanized or stainless steel.
