The well crane is a kind of balance lever that has shoulders of different lengths.

How to calculate a crane for a well

What the crane will look like is determined by depth and level water in it. To calculate, you will need to measure the depth of the well (h) from the surface of the earth to the bottom. When taking water, the bucket should in no case reach the bottom of the well, at least 30 cm.

The upper edge of the lever should be located along the axis of the well and have a height of about 150 cm so that no one would be injured when drawing water. In the general calculation of the length of the pole with the chain (L), you can use the following formula:

L = h + 150 cm.

If you denote the height of the rack h1, and the length of the large lever and its arm as l1, the length of the small arm is l2, and the distance from the rack to the center of the well is h2, then you can use more formulas for self-calculation.

H2 - this distance from the balancer post to the center of the well must be less than h by 70 cm. The height of the post h1 = h / 2 + 240 cm.

The length of the front part of the lever l1 = H-20 cm. The length of the short arm with load l1 = Н-80 cm, and the total length of the rocker arm is 2Н-100 cm.

First, you need to find a place for the well, and this must necessarily be a site that is far from outbuildings, a toilet and other possible sources of pollution. Making a mine

For seams to be sealed, they must be lubricated with clay. Use thick boards to prevent skewing. They should be nailed in the corners from the inside. All wood elements in the well shaft must be well planed and leveled from the inside.

Aboveground part

Above, around the mine, you need to make a box that will repeat its size and shape. For this, you can use boards and beams, as well as logs for felling. The above-ground part can be made from a screed or a ready-made concrete ring. It should be poured in advance between two layers of laid out formwork.

After that, be sure to make a roof for the box, it can be folding or removable. This will help prevent small debris, sediment and other objects from entering the water from the well.

How to make a support

It was not for nothing that we talked about how to calculate a well-crane, since this data will be useful for creating a support. It is a vertical, fixed stand. It can be made from a piece of pipe, a thick bar, a channel, etc.

You can determine the installation location using calculations. The length of the support beam can be determined from the depth of the well. The minimum allowable section is 5 * 10 cm. Before installation, the support (if it is made of a bar) should be treated with an antiseptic agent, as well as another impregnation that will protect against corrosion.

They should be fixed on the opposite sides of the timber, and the ends should be left as long as possible, which will then be immersed in the ground. This will help insulate the timber from contact with the soil. Steel pipes should be attached to the base beam using mounting studs marked M10. The finished structure should be installed in a previously prepared pit, and the space around should be free, at least 20-25 cm.

Now the support must be carefully aligned vertically and hammered into the ground a little, and then filled with concrete mortar.

Level it up. The concrete will harden for about 15-21 days, and during this time, the trimming of the timber should be supported to fix it.

Installing the balancer

The boom of the well (lever) can be installed only after the concrete has hardened. For manufacturing, you can use a bar with a cross section of 5 * 5 cm. But do not forget that it should be pre-treated with a protective agent.

Install the balancer on the supporting column, but after checking the load capacity. The installation of the boom to the support is carried out through the hinge assembly. To do this, attach a pair of stainless steel corners using mounting pins in the amount of 4 pieces.

After that we hang a pole on the boom. To make a pole, you can use a duralumin tube, which will be covered with a film with a moisture-resistant effect.

The pole is fixed with a 1 meter long galvanized chain. The bucket should be attached to the long end of the pole. Thanks to the calculation of the crane well, it is known that a chain with a length of 0.5 meters is required. Attach a weight to the top of the bucket so that it can roll over when it comes into contact with water.

At the short end of the boom, attach a counterweight, which can be made of anything, using mounting studs.

The weight is selected exclusively based on the calculation results. Secure the load. If you make it movable, if necessary, you can adjust its strength of action. The fixing of the expansion joint to the short arm must be reliable, the balance bar must be free from sharp edges, as well as protruding fastening pins and burrs.

Safety Precautions

When installing the boom linkage, certain safety precautions must be followed. Each of the elements must be pre-inspected for cracks and damage both outside and inside. Before installing the balancer, check its strength after a test installation at a low height and hanging on the longer end of the test weight. When installing a weight that will weigh like a container with liquid, a chain and a pole, the elastic deformation should not be more than 10: from its length.

The pole with the chain sections attached to it should also be checked for strength.

To do this, one end of the chain should be well attached to a fixed support, and a load should be suspended at the other end, which will weigh exactly 2 times more than the container and water.

Facing

There are still difficulties with the manufacture of a sealed cover, and therefore there is a high probability that debris and sediments will still get into the well. There is a more reliable option - the arrangement of a well house, but this is already technically more difficult, and this is due to certain design features.

Among the advantages of such a well, the ease of drawing water should be emphasized, since almost no effort is needed. Using such a counterweight will shorten the water extraction time when comparing the model to a standard well.
