To protect wood and wooden lining
, the surface is covered with varnish, which ensures the safety of the material and its properties.
Those who neglect such processing, after a few years, may find chips, cracks, abrasions and commonplace dirt on it.
Often, during installation, the lining is treated with various special-purpose compounds: drying oil, antiseptic, stain.
The initial appearance of the material changes somewhat. Coating the top with varnish refreshes and refines the lining.
How and with what to cover wood?
Before starting work on varnishing, first it is better to familiarize yourself with their varieties.
The following types are considered the most popular:
Representatives of all these groups may well be used for interior finishing work: they do not emit harmful toxic fumes and are harmless to health.
What are the features and performance of these products?
For varnishes made on water basis, characterized by the absence of an unpleasant odor and a fairly quick complete drying. They are completely non-toxic, so that the lining can be painted indoors without the use of protective equipment.
You don't even need a respirator. Similar compositions are used for treating wooden surfaces exclusively indoors.
All water based formulations are polyurethane or acrylic based.
They can be of different composition - two-component or one-component.
The latter contains in its composition only one base, while the two-component one, besides it, also a hardener. Therefore, the characteristics of the two-component are distinguished by the best indicators, the coating made by it is more durable and durable.
These varnishes help the tree perfectly preserve its unique natural texture. They will be an excellent choice for interior decoration.
In addition to improving the aesthetic qualities of the treated surface, they protect it from harmful influences, including sunlight. The composition of acrylic varnishes may differ slightly, so you must carefully study the instructions.
Following it, the compositions are diluted with ether, alcohol or water. The mixture dries almost instantly after application. Surfaces treated with acrylic-containing products are unimportant to excess moisture, so if dirt appears, it is better to refrain from trying to rinse them off with water.
For the same reason, acrylic-based varnish is not very suitable for use, for example, in the kitchen, where the humidity is usually high.
They have almost all the characteristics of the previous ones, but plus to this are not yet afraid of high humidity, and even moisture itself. Therefore, the surface treated with them can be washed without fear.
But it is not recommended to use abrasive substances and household chemicals.
The possibility of washing with water is very important, especially with children or pets.

Perfectly used as a door varnish. The disadvantages of this drug are considered to be an unpleasant odor when used, as well as a sufficiently long time required for it to completely dry. It takes at least two days for it. But this disadvantage is not difficult to eliminate by adding a specially produced hardener to it.
The advantages of this group of varnishes can hardly be overestimated.
They not only protect the material from aging and harmful effects, giving it a spectacular appearance.
They allow him to acquire completely unique qualities that are not at all characteristic of capricious natural material:

There are important features of the use of water-soluble varnishes, given which you can get a more aesthetic and high-quality result.
After the final drying of the first layer, the resulting surface is lightly sanded, after which another application is carried out.
How to apply is the varnish correct? The wood and the lining should be well dried, only after that you can proceed to its decorative finish. At least five days must elapse after the surfaces are coated.
There are no particular difficulties in the application process. The procedure is not at all difficult to perform on your own. But it is advisable to use the recommendations of experienced professionals for this.
What is required for work:
The surface is well cleaned, dust and dirt are removed.
If there is an old coating, it must be removed. Old varnish can be easily removed with soda. Places affected by fungus or mold are treated with a disinfecting and bleaching solution. The material needs high-quality grinding. For this, a special grinding machine or ordinary sandpaper is used.
When all defects have been removed and irregularities have been smoothed out, a layer of primer is applied to the surface, which fills the wood pores. After it dries, a special antiseptic composition is applied, which helps to increase the life of the wood. This is the so-called covering layer.
Approximately in a day, no less, you can proceed directly to varnishing at home. It is best to use a natural bristle brush for this.
During use, individual hairs do not fall out of it, complicating the process and deteriorating the quality of work. The varnish should be mixed so that a homogeneous, uniform mass is obtained. Then it will lay down in a thin and even layer, and the coating will not have sloppy streaks.
After final drying of the initial varnish layer, the surface is lightly sanded. After that, a second, final layer of varnish is applied, which can be colorless.
