A private bath is the dream of many summer residents and gardeners. The bathhouse in our culture is a special place, almost a sanctuary, where you can relax with the benefit of the body, and relax your soul. In our country, the bath is part of the traditional way of life, it can be accessible to everyone. Each of us can effortlessly build a frame bath with our own hands on our site. Below we will give detailed instructions for a frame bath 4 to 4.
First of all, we choose on the site there is a place for our bath. After that, it is necessary to make preliminary calculations for the layout. As with any construction, we first find out the type of soil.
If you have clay soil, you will need to erect a strip foundation. In all other cases, you can do without it.
Next, we prepare the main material. Be sure to make sure the boards are well dried. For the construction of a frame bath, we can advise you: birch, larch, aspen or linden.
And so, we need:
Let's start with digging a trench, the depth of which should be about 50 centimeters, and the width is about 40.
Now we fill the foundation and insert reinforcement into it, on which the timber will be attached. You can start strapping only after the concrete has completely hardened. Further along the walls we build intermediate slats. After the walls, lay out the floor. By the way, it will be very good if the outside walls are sheathed with clapboard.
After all, we build the hood and cover the roof.
Among other things, you should think about insulation, it will increase the service life of your bath and make it possible for almost year-round use.
As you can see, building a frame bath with your own hands is quite simple and inexpensive. Often people do without drawings and follow only step-by-step instructions like this one. As for the roof, there are many automated sites for calculating it, which will save you time and avoid possible calculation errors.
They will calculate for you the required amount of materials, and the dimensions of the slopes, etc.
True, frame baths have one significant disadvantage - in rain or snow, moisture can seep through the bars and cause great damage to your building. That is why you need to take into account some more nuances.
Fiberglass or rock wool is best for this;
Now that we have prepared all the necessary material and roughly understood what we have to do, we can proceed to the direct construction.
And so, for a frame bath, since it is a lightweight structure, a simplified pile foundation is perfect.
For its construction, we will need asbestos-cement pipes 100 mm in diameter. We install piles along the perimeter of the future bath at a distance of 1 m from each other. Wells for piles must be drilled at least one and a half meters. As soon as we put the piles in the wells, we fill them with sand, and the piles themselves are filled with cement mortar based on sand and gravel. After the foundation has completely hardened, we proceed to the strapping.
The bottom strapping should be made of a strong bar, best of all with a section of 10 by 10 . We start from one corner, fasten thoroughly with nails at the joints and at the corners. To prevent the strapping from loosening, it is installed on pins of about 2 cm, which we pre-installed in the foundation. Do not forget about laying roofing material between the foundation and the tree. After all, we put 8 braces in the corners.
It is important to keep track of the level when laying, if it is not even, use roofing pads.
As soon as the foundation and trim are ready, you can proceed to the installation of frame walls. Pre-assemble frames in the yard, in an open space; otherwise, the job will not be completed. The distance between the axes is leveled to 0.6 m.
If an opening is supposed in the wall, then we increase it by no more than 0.4 m. Where the frame will adjoin the lintels, we install an additional rack. Right there you can lay logs for the floor, we take a beam with a section of 15 by 5.
When the frames are assembled, set them up, connect and lay out the logs.
We also lay insulation between the uprights from any convenient material. We make the outer cladding of the frames from lining, thanks to which your bath will look more beautiful and solid. We fix it horizontally and put waterproofing under the lining. Inside the bath, we also sheathe it. As a result, you should get something like the following: external lining, waterproofing, insulation, internal lining.
Polyethylene can also be stretched between waterproofing and insulation, which will increase both thermal insulation and waterproofing.
You can proceed to the construction of the roof. There is an opinion that this is a very difficult process, but we hasten to assure you - this is far from the case. For our 4 by 4 frame bath, building a roof will not be a big task.First, let's decide what kind of roof we need - gable or hipped.
From this we will dance.
For beams and rafters, beams with a section of 15x5 cm are best suited. The distance between the rafters is 10x12 cm, and the roof slope is at least 40 cm. The beams are placed on the edge and fastened together. We fasten them with kerchiefs, and at the end with a ridge bar.
It is best to assemble the rafter system on the ground and then install it on the roof and fasten it. We begin to lay out the roofing from the ridge.
We turn to the inner work and we will start from the floor for the dressing room. It must be remembered that the floor, like the walls, will be a consumer of heat, therefore it will also have to be insulated. First, we lay out the subfloor and make waterproofing with roofing felt or other material.
Then we insulate the floor with the same material as the walls. We put a layer of waterproofing again and, finally, a final floor.
The floor for the sink is made a little differently. We construct an internal isolated foundation of the room: inside we remove a layer of soil by 10 cm, and cover it with sand and gravel. Instead of a lag, we install asbestos pipes 100 cm in diameter.
We put them on the foundation and fill them with concrete. The floor is lined with a rounded edged board on top.
In addition to lining, from the outside, the bath can be sheathed with siding, facing brick, thermal panel or blockhouse.
Also, a 4x1.8 m terrace can be attached to our bathhouse.
A shallow columnar foundation is suitable for it. After the foundation has been erected, we make a base from the boards, placing them on the end to exclude possible deflections.
Next, we assemble the frame of the side structure, which consists of vertical supports and an upper cross member - it will take on the main load of the terrace roof ...
We fasten the frame to the base with anchor bolts. We make connections between it and the roof of the bath and cover it with crate. We lay roofing material on top, you can also put slate or any other roofing material on top of it.
Next, we attach a boardwalk to the base of the terrace. From the sides we nail a decorative lattice made of boards to the frame.
All the same stages of construction are relevant for a 6x6 frame bath, with the exception of some nuances. So, for example, foundation racks are installed with a step equal to the width of the plates of your chosen insulation. The plinth strapping is made of 100x100 mm timber treated with an antiseptic. , and is mounted along the perimeter of the building, fastened together with staples and nails. We install supports on them from the same timber, which we then tie along the top with boards of 50x150 mm.
The floor in a 6x6 frame bath is lined according to the traditional scheme.
That's it, our bath is ready - you can go take a steam bath! The construction of a frame bath with your own hands can take approximately from several days to a month, it all depends on how much time you will allocate for its construction.
