How to make glue at home + recipe s
Adhesive is a necessary component of most repair work. Laying tiles is not enough without a tile-type composition, gluing canvases on the surface of walls without wallpaper.
Adhesives are required for bonding various parts as well as repairing broken products. Buy them in hardware and hardware stores, but there is another option - to make glue at home.
Such material will have many advantages - cheapness, safety and environmental friendliness.
Before making the adhesive, you need to carefully read the recipe and prepare all the components.
You can make almost any adhesive composition with your own hands - the complexity may appear only selection of the required components. A couple of years ago, it was considered the norm to independently make a wallpaper product, and canvases can last for decades. Such a material was made from flour, potato starch, because such products contain many adhesives. In creating an adhesive for tiles, you will definitely need cement - it is such a substance that can hold tiles on the surface of the walls.
To make rubber glue, you need pieces of old rubber. The stationery will include gelatin, and also wood glue. There is even a special conductive glue that is used to fasten mechanisms and electrical circuits. Usually, ready-made "Moment" glue is taken for manufacturing, then grated graphite is introduced and the composition is ready.
Some formulations are made by mixing the components.
Others will require heating, cooking, or holding the substances to dissolve in each other. Be that as it may, it is required to strictly observe the proportions of the components, since otherwise the ready-made glue made by hand may not be of good quality.
Wallpaper glue made of flour
It is natural to buy wallpaper glue much easier. But sometimes it happens that it can end at the most inopportune moment, and it is quite possible to glue the material on a paste of your own making. This composition is suitable for working with papier-mache, and the recipe is as follows:
You can start gluing the wallpaper immediately after the product has cooled down perfectly.
This amount is enough for a couple of rolls of canvas.Best of all, the adhesive is suitable for ordinary paper, lightweight non-woven wallpaper on a paper basis. For vinyl, as well as other heavy materials, it is better to purchase ready-made glue.
PVA at home
Domestic PVA glue is a water-based product that contains polyvinyl acetate, as well as plasticizers. Depending on the purpose (glue can be universal, stationery, household and construction), the composition may contain other substances.
The product can be beige or white, and is distinguished by the ability to freeze, and even defrost without loss of quality. using PVA in a diluted form, walls can be primed, and in its pure form it is used for gluing heavy canvases.
You can make PVA glue with your own hands like this:
- Soak 5 grams of photographic gelatin in a small amount of water for 24 hours.
- After a day, take a metal vessel, pour in a liter of distilled water, and then put everything in a water bath.
- Dilute separately with cool water to 0.
1 kg of wheat flour, pour flour gruel into mouth, and stir regularly.
- Add the soaked gelatin there.
- Bring mixture to a boil in a water bath, but do not bring to a boil.
- As soon as the mass becomes the consistency of thick sour cream, remove it from heat.
- Pour in 4 grams of glycerin and 20 ml of alcohol.
- Mix everything again.
- Use only after cooling completely.
Please note that a very thick adhesive composition, if necessary, can be diluted with cool distilled water and mixed thoroughly. The finished composition should be stored in convenient jars, under a lid at a temperature of +10 to +15 degrees for up to six months.
Epoxy adhesive composition
It cannot be made from improvised means.
You will still need epoxy in liquid form and a hardener, which must be mixed with each other in certain proportions. Epoxy resin is a transparent compound that is sold together with hardeners. As the mixing proceeds, the polymerization reaction will begin, before the end of which it is required to have time to apply the composition to the required surface. Due to its reliability and excellent adhesion, epoxy glue is most often used:
Usually for 4 measures of hardener you need from 6 to 8 measures of resin, more precise recommendations are usually indicated in the instructions. After fastening the material, it is used immediately or heated slightly by placing the container in boiling water.
After that, the tool can be used for repair work on various products. It will glue together plastics of various strengths based on etrols, glass products, PVC and metal.
It is such a tool that is used to glue rubber products. Some try to do this - cut pieces of an old tire from a car, and then fill it with gasoline. In fact, sewn rubber for tires will not dissolve well in gasoline, as well as other organic solvents, because they contain sulfur.
For this reason, the ideal option would be to take raw rubber, which is used through tire repair with further vulcanization. Gasoline should not be ordinary, but aviation, then the adhesive composition will be of excellent quality.
The manufacturing procedure will be as follows:
- Finely chop the rubber into a glass jar.
- Fill it with a little gasoline so that the crumb is covered.
- After swelling and dissolving (lasts 15 minutes to 2 days) add gasoline to the required consistency of the adhesive so that it is not very thick or sticky.
- Store the adhesive in a cool and dark place.
Instead of raw rubber, black soles from old pairs of shoes come in handy as a filling. It is only important that they are made of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), which is used for the production of molded shoes.
Joiner's adhesive composition
So, how to make glue with your own hands, when it comes to carpentry. This composition is used for fastening wooden products.
It can also be used for gluing cardboard, paper, fabric, and other materials. The downside is that from long-term storage it will begin to gelatinize, become covered with a hard crust and mold. The finished product does not have the most pleasant aroma, and this is also a disadvantage. Wood glue is a gelatinous mass that is quite dense in consistency. Pieces are cut from it, which are heated and used to glue parts.
It is important to heat the composition over low heat so as not to let it boil. There are several ways to make funds. For each of them, you need to buy wood glue, which I sell in the form of tiles or yellow granules. It is prepared from tanning waste, animal horns, bone meal or fish residues. The recipe is as follows:
Also add 0.1 kg of ready-made glue to 12 grams of powdered alum.
This product has water-repellent qualities, and gives the glued products high strength. Another carpentry glue is made like this:
- Pour 1 kg of glue granules into a container.
- Fill with water and leave to swell (1 liter is enough).
- After the product gets the texture of jellied meat, place the container in a water bath.
- Bring the mass to a liquid state, do not let it burn and stir constantly.
- Add 1 liter of vinegar (9%) to the mass removed from the heat, mix and the adhesive will be ready.
Note that you can still dilute the glue with water 1 to 1, and then add the same amount of glycerin (in the same amount of dry glue powder). Then warm up the mass in a water bath until the liquid evaporates.
After that, you can immediately use the glue. Dry it for storage, and let it swell in water before use.
Casein refers to complex proteins that are obtained from caseinogen when curdling milk. This composition is used for gluing leather, wood products, cardboard and paper. To make such a substance, casein should be isolated from cottage cheese by defatting:
Dry casein can be used to make glue. Put 0.
1 kg of powder on the fire in a saucepan, and put 0. 2 liters of water in a thin stream. The heated mass should be homogeneous, thick, and for this, mix it thoroughly. If necessary, the product can be whipped with a blender. After cooling with glue, you can join different products.
It is advisable to do everything in small portions, because the glue is not stored for long - up to 3 hours, and then it begins to harden.
Dextrin-based paper glue
Such glue is perfect for paper, cardboard, and therefore it is widely used in children's art, needlework, for quilling and origami. Instead of store-bought dextrin, plain starch will do. It is placed in a vessel made of heat-resistant materials, and then sent to the oven for 1.5 hours (at a temperature of +165 degrees).
After cleavage and conversion to dextrin, you can prepare an adhesive composition:
Let's look at one more recipe.
Thermal Conductive Adhesive
Now you know how to make glue at home. By the way, such funds are sold in radio component stores. They also make a heat-conducting adhesive composition with their own hands. You should take glycerin, heat everything to a temperature of +200 degrees to evaporate the water.
Heat the zinc oxide to the maximum temperature in the oven. Combine both ingredients equally, mix and cool. Glue should be used to connect quickly warming parts where it is not possible to use another type of fasteners.
Potal is alloys with precious metals in the form of thin sheets. They are used for silvering and gilding ceramics, stucco, wood, metal or glass.
Usually, adhesives based on oil, alcohol, water or acrylic are used to treat objects.
They can be replaced with the following composition:
- Combine each 0. 1 liter of cognac and heavy cream.
- Apply the product to the treated surface.
- After half an hour, start gilding.
There is still another recipe. Dissolve 70 grams of sugar in 0.2 liters of warm water and bring to a boil. Pour in 1 teaspoon of vinegar essence and cook for 1/2 minute. Remove from heat, add 1/3 cup starch.
The composition should resemble sour cream in consistency. When the adhesive has cooled down, you can use it for gilding. After hardening, it will become transparent.
Old linoleum and acetone for adhesive
A ready-made product made from such components can be used for gluing ceiling-type blocks, as well as glass and products from PVC. It is enough to find pieces of old linoleum and grind them into small pieces.
After the linoleum is poured with acetone, and the latter should be a couple of times more.
Please note that the jar with the future adhesive must be tightly closed. Then leave it in a dark place for 12 hours, and during this time the linoleum will dissolve in acetone, and the glue will be ready. It can be used immediately for the materials mentioned above, as well as for bonding wood, leather and ceramics.
