Insulation of street and underground water supply + Video

Insulation of street and underground water supply + Video At the dacha you want to take a break from the bustle of the city and so that it was in comfortable conditions that cannot be imagined without a constant water supply. If this is not there, then it is quite possible to build it even on your own. To do this, it will be necessary to decide what the water intake source will be, the type of network, and also choose the pipe material. This article tells about how to build a suburban water supply system from plastic pipes and its insulation.

The construction of any water supply system must begin with the identification of the source.

It can be a central network, a well or a well. The easiest way is to dig a well. How deep it should be will depend on the level at which the aquifer lies.

Basically ten to twenty meters. The use of this water is possible only with a special filter, since well water is most often dirty.

Sources of water intake

The best option is drilling a well . This requires special equipment and this is a more expensive option. Its main advantage is the availability of clean water. Wells are fifteen meters deep; at this depth, the water is not subject to pollution from domestic wastewater and agricultural waste.

If there is a central water supply nearby, you can connect to it.

To do this, you need to write an application at the local Vodokanal and obtain the appropriate permission. It may take more than one month.

Typical water supply network

Plastic water supply system consists of the following elements:

  • Insulation of street and underground water supply + Video pump;
  • pipeline;
  • manometer and pressure switch;
  • hydroaccumulator;
  • drain devices.

In addition to the main components, the network may include a storage tank, filter, heater. Some of the elements form one complex, such as a pumping station.

Particular attention should be paid to the selection of the pump. It will depend on the depth of the well, the amount of water consumed, the productivity of the well itself, its diameter, pressure and financial moment.

Note: All named parameters cannot have an exact value, they make an approximate estimate.

Pumps are divided into submersible and surface. Surface is used exclusively when pumping fluid from a well.

It is placed on the surface of the well and is suitable for depths up to eight meters. If you have more depth in your well, then this pump will not work.
A submersible pump is required for the well. This type of pump works quietly and consumes a small amount of energy, having a high performance.

There are two types of submersible pumps: centrifugal and vibration type.

With the help of a centrifugal pump, the water is pumped by blades under the action of centrifugal force. These models are very popular because they are reliable, high performance and good value.
The vibrating view consists of a finely serrated membrane, where fluid is pumped using the resulting pressure difference during deformation changes in the membrane. This pump requires special maintenance due to the possibility of diaphragm contamination and breakage.

Type of water supply network

How often you visit the country house depends on whether the water supply scheme will be winter or summer.

If the country house functions only in the summer, then there is no need to spend on a permanent water supply. The summer version of the water supply system is collapsible and stationary. Dismountable, in the form of a flexible hose, at the end of the season is disassembled and removed for storage, only water intake points remain. This way the hoses will last longer. There is no need to dig trenches here, because communications will run along the surface of the earth.

The stationary type will differ from the collapsible one in that it is in the ground, and only collapsible cranes are brought to the surface. It is important for the winter period to drain the liquid from the network to prevent it from freezing in the pipes.

Insulation of street and underground water supply + Video If the dacha is a year-round resting place, then it would be better to build a winter version of the water supply system. It has a more complex arrangement. Here you need to take into account all the nuances of the relief and the level of soil freezing.

A prerequisite is the presence of a pump that will provide the head.
The most suitable building materials for the pipeline are polypropylene and polyethylene. Each of these materials has its own characteristics.

Polypropylene plumbing is relatively expensive compared to polyethylene. However, these two species fulfill their role well.

They are resistant to corrosive formations. And to prevent possible freezing of pipes in frost, it is necessary to insulate it.

Thermal insulation of a plastic water supply

Even a 2 m water supply does not guarantee it will not freeze in severe frosts. And the liquid in the pipes must not freeze, since in this case it will break the pipe and disable the entire network.

Note: If the pipe is kept at a temperature of minus five degrees for a long time, the water in it will freeze and break.

And this applies to absolutely any pipe material.

Requirements for insulation:

  • Insulation of street and underground water supply + Video It must have low thermal conductivity;
  • resistant to negative weather influences;
  • have a low level of moisture absorption;
  • have fire-fighting properties;
  • have high heat saving;
  • easy and reusable;
  • of low cost;
  • must be resistant to fungal growth;
  • have durability;
  • to you could do it yourself.

Note: When choosing, give preference to materials that meet all of the above requirements.And then you do not have to worry about the condition of your water supply network in winter.

Types of insulation

Today there is a huge variety of insulation materials on the market.

For outdoor water pipe insulation, including underground, you can use the following materials:

  • Insulation of street and underground water supply + Video Basalt and cylindrical shells;
  • Foam polystyrene shells;
  • Synthetic rubber;
  • Glass wool;
  • Mineral wool;
  • Foamed polyethylene.

Heaters made of mineral wool, glass wool and expanded polystyrene shell are made from industrial glass waste. Materials have all the characteristics and are the most common for outdoor pipe insulation. Available in rolls.
When insulating glass wool pipes in the ground, they are wrapped with this material and fixed with soft wire.

Here you will also need to cover the pipe with roofing material for waterproofing.

Important: When working with glass wool, you must use protective equipment, since this fiber can penetrate into the skin and respiratory tract of a person.

If the insulation is carried out using mineral wool, then you will need to additionally purchase special basalt cylinders, called shells. They lend themselves well to cutting with an ordinary knife. Often such cylinders are made with an outer foil coating, which contributes to the least mechanical damage during use.

For pipelines for cold water supply, it is possible to use expanded polystyrene shell. However, this material is flammable and cannot be used for hot piping.

Foam and basalt insulation

Insulation material is produced by melting rock - basalt, in the form of a cylinder. They fit perfectly to pipes. At a cost, it is higher than glass wool, but it also requires moisture protection.

Note: As practice shows, most often the street pipeline is insulated with foam in the form of a shell.

The foam shell is fixed to the pipes with special tape, while the elements are installed with an overlap of at least ten centimeters. All joints are also glued.

Foamed polyethylene insulation has a low coefficient of thermal conductivity, which contributes to good heat retention. Also protects the polyethylene pipeline from overheating in hot summer weather and freezing in cold weather.

Serves as protection against condensation accumulation and corrosive formations.

Alternative methods of insulation

Not always the use of one insulation is able to provide effective protection. In very cold weather, additional insulation may be required. Heating with a special cable or pressure is perfect for this.
Any liquid has a certain pressure at which it cannot freeze.

Plumbing insulation can also be done according to this principle. Why simply insert the receiver into the water pipe.

The optimal pressure is 3-5 atm. The main point here is that the system is able to withstand this pressure. Then it will not freeze at high subzero temperatures.

Insulation of underground pipes can also be carried out with electric cables . Wires are laid on pipes in a spiral or longitudinal way, and then covered with insulation. This method is reliable and can be used to heat pipes in a few hours, but it requires constant access to electricity.
