Linear lighting of the house - the choice of lamps, schemes
Due to the successful formation of the light flow lamps do not just take root in everyday life, on the street and even in industry, and they are constantly replacing other structures, point and raster, especially in those places where uniform and soft light is needed. Linear lighting for your home is the perfect solution.
Properties of linear LED luminaires. The linear luminaire is constructively a box-shaped long panel with a plate with printed LEDs.
The luminaire can be installed in the ceiling, attached to hangers, on the ceiling cladding or wall surface.
Mounting the LEDs will provide the following benefits:
It can be considered that the installation of an LED linear luminaire is only slightly more complicated than the installation of spotlights.
As a rule, manufacturers try to complete their products with wall mounts and additional clips, and therefore there are almost no problems with how to attach the case to the wall or ceiling surface. From above the luminaire will be covered with a decorative matt polycarbonate cover. This will provide excellent light flux diffusion because the LEDs produce a beautiful spot of bright light that is highly irritating to the eyes.
The use of reliable and lightweight LED-type panels will make it possible to place lamps almost anywhere and anywhere. They can be placed on each surface, provided that the light flow is perpendicular to the main axis of the room.
With the help of LED panels, it will provide four main lighting schemes:
- Ceiling option - the luminaire will be placed either on the ceiling plane, or built into the structure ... This scheme is the most popular for residential premises.
- Suspended version - used mostly for rooms with high ceilings.
Ceiling mounted luminaires are used in offices, conference rooms, large halls and even in the workshop as the main light source, which is located above the table or even above the workplace of a large number of people.
- Rotary and mobile luminaires are most often used as additional lighting. In special cases, the design will make it possible to adjust the direction of the light flow.
- Wall and floor layouts. This type is most often used for small rooms, including those with low ceilings or unusual interior design.
Floor- or wall-mounted luminaires are used mostly for compact rooms, and often with complex ceiling designs. In some cases, a wall lamp is used as an interior element in a cafe or entertainment establishment.
Linear LED lighting can provide a sufficiently bright and powerful luminous flux, and therefore such devices will be used to illuminate facades, and also decoration of modern buildings.
Structurally similar models will differ from a standard home lamp with the following parameters:
The result is a relatively uniform flow of light that will be perfectly visible even in the evening. The power of architectural-type luminaires is approximately 4 times higher than in household-type models. The device itself can be installed either directly on the eaves of the walls, or attached to a bracket. Lanterns of linear type can be used without limitation as street lighting spotlights in private households. Their most popular models can be called the panel-spotlight SD-XX.
The shell is protected according to the IP67 standard, and at the same time the device can operate in a large temperature range, it consumes only 20 to 70 W, and produces a light flux at the level of a 1 kW flashlight.
For the needs of the home type, relatively small lamps are most often used. It is very inconvenient to put long lamps on the ceiling in a small room, and because of this, the maximum size will rarely exceed the standard of 1.2 meters. With this consumption of electrical energy, the LED panel will be located in the range from 10 to 22 W.
For example, the famous LED linear luminaire LED Stiсk is made in the form of an aluminum box with a polycarbonate cover. The dimensions of the devices will be 1.17 * 2. 2 * 3. 4 cm, which is ideal for housing.
Moving lighting fixtures to the ceiling will be the most ideal option for creating lighting inside the apartment. For such purposes, the aforementioned LED Stiсk, and the less expensive HX-20, which is shown in the photo, are suitable. If the LED Stiсk emits a light stream with a temperature of 4700 K, then the matrix from the HX-20, as well as the main part of ceiling-type luminaires, will generate light with a temperature of 5600 to 6400 K.The important thing is that the cheaper the fixtures are, the harder the light will be. A typical cottage lantern usually looks like a plastic panel that is covered with a polycarbonate cap.
The housing has a protection class IP 20, which means that the lighting system must be protected from moisture and dust by additional means.
The devices listed above are installed on the ceiling by cutting into the surface or even fixed on brackets. If the ceiling height of the room is large, then the built-in structures will not be as effective, and therefore the enclosures must be fixed on special wire hangers or even on tubular rods. Suspended luminaires of linear type differ from standard only in the installation method. An example of such a design can be a hanging lantern, which is in the photo below.
The body is usually made of aluminum or plastic, in white or matte black. The power of such a device is usually no more than 30 W, and the body length is a maximum of 1.3 meters. With proper installation, one lamp is enough to illuminate a room with an area of 10 to 12 m 2 .
A whole new class of lighting devices.
It appeared at the same time with the widespread distribution of suspended and stretch ceilings. For vinyl ceiling-type structures, linear lamps are used, as well as built-in elements of the ceiling frame. In this case, it will be possible to hide the structure behind the PVC decor, or simply make them invisible. For modern design, recessed linear lamps are often used as a decorative element, and the technology will make it possible to assemble incredible compositions from broken luminous arrows and lines.
Wall structures can be considered a fairly close relative of linear lighting at home.
The main difference is that the body will be installed on a vertical plane, so the main light flux is directed either downward or towards the wall. A linear wall-type luminaire will be inferior to a ceiling luminaire in lighting efficiency, but noticeably better than its ease of maintenance. Typically, wall lights are used as emergency lights, which are equipped with a built-in battery. Serviceability has made wall-mounted luminaires quite popular for kitchen installations. The energy consumption will be lower, moreover, it will always be easier to remove the decorative cap from the wall than from the ceiling.
More modern designs of lighting devices are made with hinged supports, which will make it possible to change the direction of the light flow. It can be a linear LED light. There may be a street version of the LED SPS floodlight.
Most of the home linear lamps on LED matrices are made in the form factor of a surface mounted case. This will mean that you should not think too much about where and how the device in the ceiling finish, but simply choose the most suitable place for mounting the lantern and attach it.
Most of the surface-mounted luminaires have a universal type of body, which will make it possible to simultaneously use them without alterations for mounting on the ceiling and wall.
As a rule, surface-mounted lamps of the linear type are presented in two body versions:
Surface-mounted models can be considered the easiest to install, repair and replace.
Turning off and on the lights is usually done with standard two-position switches. The button is very convenient, but ugly. In new overhead and linear lamps, the switch is made touch-sensitive. The transparent cover has an optical built-in sensor that reacts to touch. The sensor structure will not stick due to dust and will not break with frequent use.
The best can be considered the luminaires from the companies Camelion, Osram, Gauss, Philips and Feron. In this case, the reputation of the companies will be promoted by the excellent quality control of the LED matrix, as well as the assembly process of linear lamps. Among the Russian companies one can single out "space" and "Era".
Of the Chinese manufacturers, the well-deserved reputation used the Xiaomi flashlight. It is very difficult to judge the quality of linear lights, because almost 85% of devices are made in China.
A large number of small manufacturers, both Russian and CIS, use inexpensive Chinese LED strips to assemble the cheapest and simplest linear devices. The build quality will be average, and therefore it is better to buy branded flashlights, or those models that are guaranteed for at least 1 year.
The process of installing a linear luminaire is even easier than other types of lighting fixtures and lamps. Low structural weight will make it possible to install linear structures, as they say, "on plaster". The overlay models can even be glued using "liquid nails" or standard acrylic filler.
At home, the installation of a linear lamp is done on mounting clips or self-tapping screws.
Wall structures are usually fixed with plastic plugs. The only exception would be street lighting structures. Usually, for safety reasons, I install them only on self-tapping screws with non-twisting heads. The service life of such a flashlight can easily exceed 20 years, even if the LED bulb fails, and it can always be replaced without dismantling the body.
Linear lamps in the interior. A correctly chosen model always only enhances the positive impression of the apartment interior. Models that are built into a stretch ceiling look most effective. A similar effect can be achieved with suspended ceiling structures.
Modular overhead devices are perfect for offices and expansion lobbies of various organizations.
Correctly assembled composition can be used for Art Nouveau and Techno interiors. Wall-mounted circuits can be used for corner lighting of a room.
Linear LED luminaires have become the most efficient interior planning tool. Ceiling and corner lighting are used in almost all modern design types.
