Lining for the street - the advantages of the material + Video How does the lining behave on the street?

Together with the wooden lining has long been use PVC lining for outdoor use. Plastic and vinyl boards are equally in demand for indoor and outdoor cladding. Due to the practicality of the material and its ease of installation work, even those who do not have such experience can cope with finishing work on the street. Plastic lining differs from wood not only in the material of manufacture, but also in structure. The internal structure is very similar to a honeycomb, namely a huge number of cells that are soldered together.

This is what determines its advantages and application features.

General information

At the very beginning, vinyl lining was used in the field of railway construction, in particular for cladding wagons, from which the name went. From the outside, the material looks like a standard smooth board with grooves for fasteners, but due to the honeycomb structure, the plastic lining has excellent thermal insulation and sound insulation.

Advantages of vinyl material

The advantages of the material include the following:

  1. Resistance to moisture. As everyone knows, wooden materials for decoration rot when exposed to water.

To prevent this from happening, many are thinking about how to cover the lining on the street. Not every manufacturer seeks to process products with paints and varnishes, so this task often falls on the shoulders of the buyer, and this requires additional costs of money, effort and time. But it is interesting that it is the lining for finishing the building from the outside that does not need such processing.

  2. Lining for the street - the advantages of the material + Video Resistance to insects. Wood is an excellent breeding ground for beetles that eat away at wood.

In order for a wooden house to be protected from such misfortune, it needs to be painted or treated with special compounds. In the case of plastic lining, you do not need this, since the material does not attract insects.

  3. Use in a wide temperature range. Depending on the type of wood used, wood materials can react completely differently to temperature changes. So, boards can begin to crack, deform and twist due to extreme heat or frost.

But plastic trim is used with equal success in frost at -50 degrees, and in heat at +60 degrees.

  4. UV resistance. This advantage is extremely important, especially when it comes to outdoor decoration. The paint does not fade in the sun, and therefore the material is often used to decorate terraces, houses, verandas and balconies.
  5. Long operational life.

Plastic lining for outdoor work, the price of which is relatively low, does not lose its attractiveness for a long time, and the material does not need to be rubbed, repaired, processed and coated with various compounds (varnishes, paints). But if necessary, PVC panels can be easily painted in the required shade.

  6. Does not burn. Houses that are sheathed with plastic clapboard, unlike wooden ones, do not need to be treated with special solutions like fire retardants.
  7. Simple installation work.

PVC products are easy to cut and bend, plastic boards are easy to dock, and thanks to this, installation time is significantly reduced.

  8. Wide range of shades and sizes.
  9. Ease of maintenance. In order for the plastic finish to remain at the proper level, it is enough to wipe it with a cloth or wash it with soapy water and a soft brush.
  10. Acceptable cost.

Such material, without exaggeration, is available to all segments of the population.

The disadvantages can now be considered to weigh the pros and cons.

Disadvantages of PVC lining

Despite the huge number of advantages, the material has some disadvantages. Due to the low strength of the plastic sheathing, something heavy cannot be hung on the wall of a house with this finish. In addition, the installed lining outside will not be able to withstand strong blows from the street.

In addition, vinyl does not allow air to pass through, and if you decide to cover the walls of the house with vinyl clapboard, you should leave space for air circulation between the wall and the PVC boards so that the thermal insulation does not get damp. Due to the fact that the material is not too durable and there are high risks of damage to the finish, it is advised to sheathe with clapboard only those houses that are far from a large flow of people, as otherwise the chances of surface damage will increase.

Advantages of vinyl for outdoor use

Despite the fact that plastic lining has a comparative fragility, a large number of advantages can still influence a positive decision to sheathe this material house outside. Polyvinyl chloride lining has a glossy surface, so it does not need to be processed and coated with compounds with protective properties. The lining is produced in various shades, including coated with wood panels, but if you wish, you can always repaint it in a different color.

Due to the presence of special grooves, installation work and clapboard finishing of any surfaces is done quickly and easily. In addition, plastic will not start to rot or corrode, unlike wood and metal. PVC boards for outdoor use have a special component that increases resistance to frost, so always check the markings when buying material for cladding a house outside.

Due to its democratic price and qualities, the lining for the street has found wide application in various fields. Its main advantage is that there is no need for surface treatment before installation.

Also, the lining helps to hide all defects and irregularities in the walls. facades, balconies, ceilings, verandas, corridors and gazebos can be processed with clapboard.

It is indispensable not only for outdoor work, but also for indoor areas, where there is high humidity. It is not difficult to maintain the ideal appearance of the walls that are sheathed with PVC plates - a simple wiping with a damp brush will suffice. If desired, walls and other surfaces can be repainted, and the lining is also not afraid of moisture.

Vinyl PVC boards are perfect for finishing a summer cottage or a house made of wood. Sheathed surfaces with the help of lining perfectly withstand temperature drops, large frosts, since there is a special component in the composition of polyvinyl chloride. It should be said that vinyl plates are flexible enough, and thanks to this, finishing work can be carried out even in the most inconvenient places. Plastic is the most affordable and at the same time inexpensive materials, and you can buy plastic boards at any building market. The lining is a versatile finishing material that is equally well suited for both external and internal cladding work.

Installation technology

To cover the facade or interior surface with clapboard, no special skills or equipment are required.

Required tools and devices

For high-quality and fast performance of work, you will need the following tools:

  • Lining for the street - the advantages of the material + Video Hammer.
  • Electric jigsaw / hacksaw.
  • Stapler.
  • Electric drill.

  • Water level.
  • Screwdriver or screwdriver.

Materials are also required:

  • PVC lining.
  • Bars made of wood for making battens.
  • Dowels and screws.

  • L-profile / skirting board.

When everything is collected, you can start.

Stages of work

The installation of PVC boards is carried out in several steps:

  1. For start preparatory work on the area where PVC plates will be installed, for this remove all debris and clean the surface.
  2. After that, holes for self-tapping screws should be drilled in the wooden blocks at a distance of half a meter from each other. In order not to get unpleasant surprises in the future in terms of insects or high levels of humidity, the bars should be coated with linseed oil or painted.

  3. After that, attach the wooden beams to the walls, and therefore holes for the dowels should be drilled in them. According to technology, the distance between the bars should not be more than 1 meter.
  4. To avoid unevenness, the planks should be leveled using a water level. After that, the plinth or L-profile should be fixed along the perimeter of the facade with a stapler.
  5. Insert the first vinyl board into the skirting board with one side and staple the other to the battens.

Insert the rest of the panels into the groove of the previous plate and fasten to the beams in the same way. If necessary, trim panels with a knife or jigsaw.

  6. Use brackets if necessary, as well as profiles and angles. The lining does not require additional processing, but if you want to change the exterior, you can change everything literally in 1 day.

As you can see, it is not difficult to install the lining on the street, especially since this particular material is perfect for outdoor work.
