Arrangement of a country house requires that engineering be solved -building issues. In addition to creating comfortable and convenient conditions for living in the house, it will also be necessary to equip the personal plot. One of the main buildings on the estate is the storm sewer in the country.

Protection against atmospheric precipitation. In Russia, there are practically no areas where there is no precipitation.

In the middle zone of the Russian Federation, the volume of falling water and rain from melting snow can be measured in cubic meters within 1 year.

In addition, no dacha is insured against torrential rains, which, within a limited time period, can oversaturate the soil on your site with moisture and make a real swamp out of it.

After the house is covered with a downpour - pouring water rolls down from the roof and from areas with a hard surface that does not absorb water, strongly saturating its moisture. It can not only create problems for crops, but also become the root cause for the destruction of the foundation of the house. If there is a cellar, basement or basement in a country house, water can get into such rooms and partially flood them.

This situation with an excessive amount of water on the site can also develop after a time of intense melting of the snow cover in spring. To protect against the negative effects of moisture, storm sewers are installed on personal plots, which removes excess moisture outside the dacha.

The main parameters of the storm drain

This system is a very specific structure. Unlike a simple plumbing, there is a huge amount of both large debris and small individual particles in melt and rainwater. Such a composition of the flow will imply a primary purification and creation of a channel for the uninterrupted movement of contaminated water.

Composition of storm water for summer cottages. Such a system is not limited only to gutters that collect rain moisture from the floors of buildings. Rain pipes are only one part of the system. In the suburban storm-type sewage system, the following main components can be distinguished:

It should also be noted that the storm drainage drain can be made using two constructive methods - point and linear, or their tandem.

Spot stormwater

When using this method of collecting melt or rainwater, runoff is collected from surfaces of solid type that does not absorb moisture, such as from roofing materials or paved areas. Then the drains go to the funnels for reception. At the end of the collection, the wastewater is transported to the drainage system.

Linear storm drain

When using a linear drainage system, all water from surfaces that do not absorb is drained into gutters that are located along these areas. After collection, melt and rainwater is directed to the water drainage system. If there is a border with a reservoir or ravine on the site, it will be more expedient to direct unnecessary water towards the natural runoff. Alternatively, melt and rainwater can flow into the septic tank for purification, where the primary purification takes place. Reuse of melt and rainwater is an extremely profitable measure.

With its use, you can achieve tangible savings on water bills for irrigation or cleaning. Melted and rainwater runoffs carry relatively few pollutants and their purification in a simple septic tank should not be a big problem.

Installing a storm sewer at the dacha

It is not difficult to make a storm sewer at the dacha. Despite the fact that the storm sewer is a very complex engineering system, you can easily carry out the installation yourself. The situation will be facilitated based on the fact that there are no pressure pumps in the storm sewer system, and the water in it will move by gravity.

For this reason, the installation of storm water in a summer cottage or in country houses is only an improved technically advanced children's needle with spring streams. In order to correctly design and install the drainage of melt / rainwater in the country, it is required to have only minimal technological skills.

Installation technology

So, the sequence of actions is as follows:

  1. Making a storm sewer in the country with your own hands At the very beginning, we make calculations for the storm sewer system. The minimum required elements is a system for draining water from buildings, because rainwater, if it is too abundant, can make life very difficult. Further, if necessary, calculate the drainage from areas and paths with a hard surface, for example, from an asphalt parking lot.

  2. Having determined the area from which water should be diverted, it is required so that moisture from rain does not linger on these surfaces. Everything is clear with the roof - water is collected from it by a simple drainage system. But so that the paths or parking in the country house is not covered with water after each rain - during construction, it is required to provide for a slope along which the water, under the influence of gravity, will roll into the gutters and water intake funnels. Similar devices - gutters or funnels - are installed under the ends of the drain pipes, which collect moisture from the roof.
  3. After making calculations and charging all funnels or gutters for water drainage, the collected water should be discharged away from the site, or into the wastewater treatment system.

  4. Drainage of water from the water intake funnels can be carried out by open or closed method. When using the open method, water enters the gutters, which are closed at the top with gratings. When using a closed system, water will flow to the collection and discharge point through a system of underground pipes.
  5. Both when installing gutters and when placing pipes - building structures for water discharge should be placed with a slope towards the water collection side. The angle of inclination of the water collection pipes and gutters is calculated, as when laying an external sewage system.

  6. When laying gutters and pipes after digging in a selected place of trenches, a sand cushion with a thickness of at least 10 cm is laid on their bottom.
  7. Pipes of the water drainage system in the ground do not need to be deepened to a large extent. Such a sewerage system will work only in the warm season and the problem of freezing will not threaten it.
  8. In order to prevent the system from getting dirty, it is required to provide for the installation of filter grates to collect large debris and sand traps in order to collect suspended fine particles, like sand. At the locations of filters and sand traps during underground closed laying of the pipeline, it is required to provide for the presence of hatches and revisions for routine maintenance and unscheduled purification of effluents.

Now let's look at the nuances.

Features of the installation

For laying the sewer gutters of the stormwater system by an open method, ready-made solutions can be used - plastic and concrete gutters for the sewage system. It can also be combined with a drainage system. In soils with a huge amount of moisture, a constant drainage of excess water is required. For this, pipes with holes are laid in the ground, which will collect soil and moisture and take it away from the land plot.

Such pipes can also be used to move melt or rainwater outside the area. But, as a rule, drainage pipes are laid at a depth deeper than the storm sewer system.

Even for a storm sewer in the country with your own hands, you need to carefully calculate the slope of the water drainage pipes. Use a special theodolite or building level. It should be borne in mind that water is a rather aggressive medium, and therefore, perform the system only from those materials that are not subject to corrosion, for example, reinforced concrete or plastic.

Do not use pipelines that have a corrugated surface because they are highly prone to clogging. Water can find a way out everywhere, because when connecting pipes, use sealed technologies that are similar to a simple outdoor sewage system. In order for the water in the system not to freeze in winter - at the beginning of frost, the system must be fully cleaned and freed from water. All entrances to gutters and water collectors should be covered with bars. It is easier to rake leaves from such gratings than to get them from the depths of the system afterwards.

There must be a well or inspection hatch at every turn of the water discharge pipe.In order to learn more about the construction technology in the country, watch the video tutorial.
