Modern materials for wall decoration in the house
The development of technological processes of modern building materials makes it possible to build faster and cheaper. Monolithic and frame-panel houses, foam concrete and wood concrete buildings have recently been perceived as exotic, and at the moment have become classics of the genre. Oddly enough, but the most special attention of potential developers is focused not on construction technologies, but on new materials for home decoration.
And it is natural that for the overwhelming majority it is not enough just to build the box of the building, you still need to try to present the goods from the best sides or create a very accurate and even unusual finishing of the building. Consider all modern materials for home decoration.
Traditionally, a wide range of construction finishing materials for a newly built building can be divided into several categories:
- Universal materials based on ceramics, plastics and composites.
- Coverings for children and bedrooms.
- Protective and facing coatings used in the facade of the building.
- Decorative materials for interior decoration work, including ceiling and floor coverings, materials for wall decoration and ancillary spaces.
Please note that most of the new materials and coatings represent future technological developments in standard finishing techniques.
Almost all manufacturing companies adhere to this method of developing new building materials for 2 reasons. First, it will be easier and faster to overcome the (psychological) barrier of a person when adopting the latest materials. In addition, modified materials are much easier to sell than a completely new and unknown product.
By tradition, the development of the latest materials will go in the following three directions:
The main part of new building finishing materials appeared due to the widespread use of acrylic, gypsum mixtures, as well as polyurethane resins, the use of updated types of compounds and ceramics. The greatest development could be obtained by technologies that produce materials for home decoration outside.
The emergence of new building mixtures in order to obtain decorative plaster and the introduction of a new principle has become truly innovative in the field of facade cladding and external walls finishing by mounting the hinged type.
Decorative type of plaster based on acrylic resins and many different fillers from calcite or marble made it possible not only to change the texture and colors of the walls, but also and give them a new look by imitating a stone of natural origin or by forming a certain type of surface. This coating almost does not fade in the sun, and is also not afraid of frost and rain, and if the application technology is observed, it can stay on the surface of the walls for more than 10 years. The disadvantages of plastering building materials include the high dependence of the quality of the updated coatings on the plastering qualifications, and moreover, most of the work will need to be done manually, especially at the stage of forming the wall texture.
Pay attention! At the moment, in the field of home decoration with modern materials (pictured), the formation of new water-soluble water-based, acrylic and water-dispersion paints and varnishes has become, which have a colossal number of new colors and shades.
With their appearance, the facade of the house and external walls can be painted in the most exquisite colors and tones.
In the overwhelming majority, new materials of the paint-and-varnish type for the exterior decoration of the building made it possible, with minimal effort, to give the gray and old concrete buildings an updated, fresh look.
With the introduction of frame finishing technologies, it became possible to radically change the appearance of buildings, giving the wall surfaces a completely new appearance. For example, the use of thermal panels with glued tiles made of porcelain stoneware or imitation of natural stone for finishing makes it possible to give an old cinder block structure the appearance of an old-style masonry made of natural stone, facing bricks, or even extremely accurately simulate walls made of wood (timber or rounded logs) ...
Similar finishing results can be obtained by facing a building with more durable panels of metal-plastic and plastic siding, wooden block = house and even a new modified type of lining. Unlike thermal panels, new wood and plastic cladding panels are cheaper and easier to install, and therefore are most often used in combination with new thermal insulation type coatings. In addition to the hinged decor, new ceramic facing materials - tiles and bricks made of porcelain stoneware and hyper-pressed mixtures - are increasingly being used for wall decoration. The new type of finish will be much cheaper than traditional facing brick, and will not be inferior to it in terms of stability and appearance. Most of the latest materials are, in fact, versatile and will find application in the development of the latest materials for interior decoration of rooms.
Almost all innovations in interior decoration have concerned the development and use of new mixtures for decoration, use of MDF and gypsum plasterboard panels for repair work on walls, use for flooring ceramic granite tiles and arranging a self-leveling floor. In fact, most of the new products are already known materials for outdoor decoration, which are adapted for indoor use. A real discovery in the matter of interior decoration was the formation of painting and new environmentally friendly materials of natural origin.
The application of graphic images to apartment walls or surfaces in the house cannot be considered a truly new type of decor. Mural painting has been known for several thousand years, but with the formation of high-quality decorative and gypsum plasters, it became possible to create an ideal background or base for drawing.
Hand painting instantly became an exclusive finish, along with 3D decor and photo wallpaper. In addition to the graphics, relief compositions, stucco molding, and bas-reliefs were added, which are very easy to make by means of castings from gypsum plaster mixes like Knauf Roteband.
Graphic images have become fashionable, especially with thematic directional decoration of rooms using materials of natural origin, specially made interior items and designs. New 3D wallpaper or a tile with the image that is applied to it can be considered very interesting. After gluing to wall surfaces, the perception of perspective and space is completely changed.
a simple technique makes it possible to visually increase at times the perception of the space of small rooms, for example, a bedroom and a bathroom.
The decoration of the facades of houses with modern materials is diverse. Traditionally, finishing with natural materials was limited to laying wood parquet and gluing standard paper wallpapers using modified cellulose based adhesive solutions. The smart modern interpretation of green spaces is increasingly forcing homeowners to abandon non-woven or vinyl wallpaper in favor of more exotic wallpapers made of cork, reed, or even bamboo woven fiber. It's no secret that even the latest gypsum plaster mixes contain surfactants, dyes and polymer plasticizers, and therefore, plaster composite materials based on finely ground silicon and lime are increasingly used to decorate the most important rooms inside the house.
A complete novelty is the use of natural types of plaster, for example, Moroccan tadelakt - a waterproof type coating without dyes and synthetic binders. The most expensive type of finishing is the use of jute, cotton and linen fabrics or genuine leather.
When the frame appeared interior decoration, this made it possible to solve the repair issue of old rooms with curved walls at a completely different, updated level. Instead of throwing several tens of kilograms of sand-cement mass, a relatively simple laying technology is used to level the surface, flat, like glass, of plasterboard sheets on a previously mounted frame made of a profile (steel). Thanks to the latest technology, it has become possible to level and veneer wall surfaces even with strong curvature of the surface.
Together with drywall, MDF boards made of pressed cellulose fibers began to be used for finishing work.
The outer surface of the material should be covered with a laminate that imitates wood, tile and stone. Lightweight, new and flexible, the materials can be used to decorate walls and ceilings, simulating finishes from expensive wood species or natural stone. A relatively new technology for ceiling decoration is the use of PVC heat-shrinkable membranes. To decorate the ceiling surface, it is enough to stretch a thin polymer-type cloth over the previously installed frame and heat the surface with a heat gun.
As a result, as the membrane begins to shrink, align it to the state of a mirror, hiding flaws and problematic ceiling areas.
Among all new building materials that are used for flooring, one can mention the formation of a self-leveling floor, as well as the use of heavy-duty multi-layer linoleum and the creation of parquet coverings from grooved boards. Self-leveling floors are a mixture of water-soluble polymer resin and mineral filler. By means of a low-viscosity, fast-curing mixture, it is possible to create ideal even floors, which in the future will be covered with parquet boards or laminate. It is almost impossible to achieve this surface quality by sanding or pouring concrete screed.
Commercial linoleum grades 33 and 34 can rightfully be considered a new finishing material.Unlike home brands (classes 21 and 23), the new flooring material has an additional polyurethane coating, which provides a service life of 15 years. Home linoleum may need to be replaced at least every 5 years. One of the most successful materials for flooring is considered to be a coating that is assembled from parquet boards, like a laminate. The spaciousness of the installation and assembly process is combined with a high degree of strength and durability of the building material.
Modern materials for decorating walls in the house not only simplify the work, but in some cases make it available to do it yourself, but this means that the cost of finishing operations is reduced by 20-30%. In addition to the beautiful appearance, decorative types of coatings will become safer and at the same time more durable.
