Plaster cartridge gun and its application

Plaster cartridge gun and its application Cartridge gun for plastering - types, selection and arrangement

Plastering mortar on different surfaces during construction work and repairs, it is possible to perform not only manually, but also using pneumatic tools and devices.

One is a plaster cartridge gun that will work just like a spray gun.

Such a device is also called a texture and plaster gun, and its division into varieties that are sometimes found on the network are conditional.

General information. Purpose and principle of operation

A cartridge gun is a pneumatic type tool, which is used primarily for applying various building mixtures to the surface, such a tool is usually used for plastering and finishing, or rather, finishing worker stage.

One of the main advantages of using such a tool, in comparison with manual methods of applying similar plaster, is a high working speed, as well as productivity. It is also worth noting the convenience of application, namely, spraying solutions on the object of treatment, with different sizes of fractions, and this will depend on the diameter of the nozzle used.

This gun will be useful if you need to spray on the following coatings:

The cartridge type of pistol is universal for finishing works, with the help of which it is possible to process up to 100 sq. meters of area, and with almost all ready-made mixtures, in which a layer is up to 1 cm in thickness. In the process of performing work, it will begin to eject a solution from the nozzle at a certain angle, and for its operation it requires connection to an air compressor with the required technical characteristics.

Characteristics and structure of the pistol

A conventional cartridge pistol is made of the following elements:

  1. The body has the shape of a pistol, made by analogy with a spray gun, with a long trigger for 3-4 fingers, by pressing which the air supply will open. At the bottom of the handle there will be a nipple for connecting to the high pressure hose that comes from the air compressor.

The most commonly used connection is a threaded type with a valve that can block the air outlet from the receiver when the hose is disconnected, and sometimes quick-release fittings are used.

  2. A nozzle is a suction tube with a circular cross-section, which is connected to the pneumatic line.
  3. A nozzle with a replaceable nozzle that differs in the diameter of the diffuser nozzle, and can also be cut at various angles.
  4. A cone-type container that is attached to the top of the body and protrudes as a solution container. Due to its large mass and upwardly displaced center of gravity, the filling cartridge gun for plastering is difficult to hold with one hand, and therefore a handle is located on the container on the operator's side, which allows you to use the other hand to hold the tool.

  5. Full blow-down type cleaning rod required to clear a plugged hole.

Cartridge guns are often equipped with an air inlet valve and an adjustment screw behind the rear housing to regulate the air pressure supplied. Through it, you should select the flow rate of the solution to be sprayed.

Material of construction

Cartridge pistols are most often made of aluminum alloy, which helps to make the body both strong and light. For the manufacture of nozzles, as well as nozzles, stainless steel is used, which is resistant to corrosion and microscopic damage.

The container for mixtures can be nylon or aluminum, and primarily it is about strength, but even less weight, resistance to chemical influences and inertness.

Weight and dimensions

A cartridge-type pistol weighs on average from 1 to 3 kg, and its length will be approximately 15 to 25 cm, and the container capacity from 3 to 5 liters. There are devices even for 8 liters, but due to their high weight when filled, their use is accompanied by great inconvenience and quick fatigue of the operator.

Dimensions and purpose

To obtain the required result of spraying mixtures, you should install a nozzle of the required diameter - for different sizes of mixture fractions. Moreover, by adjusting the air supply, the final pattern of the applied texture can be adjusted.

Depending on the composition and density of the solution, the most demanded are diffusers with a diameter of 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8 cm, which usually come with a cartridge pistol. There are also sizes for 0.

3 and 0.25 cm. In addition to the diameter, replaceable nozzles may differ in the angle of the nozzle exit, and its choice will be influenced by the degree of density of the mixture. For a thick lime-cement composition, a 45-degree nozzle is perfect. This angle will provide the highest performance with a large spray area.

If we are talking about a liquid mixture, then 15 degree nozzles should be used for it, which prevent the spread of the applied material.

To ensure proper operation of the gun, select a compressor with the required specifications. On average, the apparatus should generate an overpressure of 4 atmospheres, and also have a capacity of 200 to 250 liters per minute. The instructions for the tool usually prescribe the minimum and maximum pressure for which it will be designed,

and also the minimum and maximum performance of compressor-type equipment, air consumption, from which you can choose a compressor by power:

  • The minimum capacity is approximately 170 liters per minute.
  • Maximum capacity ranges from 170 to 250 liters per minute.

  • The minimum pressure is 1.5 to 3 bar.
  • The maximum pressure is 3.6 to 8 bar.
  • The air flow is between 150 and 380 liters per minute.

Decorative plastering with a cartridge gun can be made with both narrow and wide performance ranges. So, some models are designed for work under pressure from 3 to 4 bar with a compressor whose capacity is from 170 to 250 liters per minute, and someone uses from 220 to 380 liters per minute, and the air is under pressure from 4 to 8 bar.

Types of devices and cost

Cartouche pistols are also called hopper pistols, but do not confuse them with hopper buckets. Even taking into account the fact that both options can be attributed to pneumatic tools, they have a remotely similar principle of operation, and also radically differ in purpose and design features. The first is a finishing and decorative pneumatic spray tool, which is designed for accurate application of material with a layer no more than 1.

2 cm thick, and is used most often for decorative and finishing work. The second is used for rough work, when, for example, the wall should be painted with a thick layer of starting type plaster. Here the solution will not be sucked out of the container, but only blown out by a stream of air at a lower pressure.

Conventionally, the cartridge pistol can be divided into:

  1. Plaster cartridge gun and its application Household - it is capable of working with a pressure of 3-4 bar, has a tank of 4-5 liters, and often there are no additional nozzles of different sizes in the kit. Packaging and assembly quality are major concerns, and such a tool is not required for daily intensive use.

  2. Professional - Required for active use, equipped with a full range of tips of different sizes, and this significantly expands its functionality. The container for the solution can be with a volume that is more than 5 liters, and a valve is installed on the inlet connection to regulate the air supply.

Generally speaking, there is actually a difference between the two options, but it is minimal, as is the cost. An excellent cartouche pistol can be bought even for 3200 rubles, and the minimum cost for it is from 1900 rubles. As you can see, the difference is not very big.

The texture gun may differ in design from the standard version with a removable nozzle. We will talk about models with a bayonet - a metal disc with drilled holes of different diameters that protrude in the form of nozzles.

Such a revolving mechanism for the gauge plate makes it possible to do without additional nozzles, and to adjust the nozzle diameter, it is enough to lower the fixing screw and turn the bayonet to match the required hole with the blowing barrel. Such options cost from 2600 rubles. There are models with 5-8 position calibrating plates, and the nozzle diameter ranges from 0.

5 to 1.1 cm, and the difference is from 0.25 to 0.8 cm for the classic design.

Which pistol to choose

As mentioned earlier, the difference between a cartridge pistol for home and professional use lies in the quality of assembly and the materials used, namely reliability.

This is where the simplest rule will apply - the more expensive the toolkit, the better it is. When buying, you should pay attention to the body integrity, as well as the absence of chips and cracks. The trigger should not play, the nut that fixes the replaceable nozzles, and should also be twisted by hand, is easy. The presence of an air valve at the point where the pneumatic hose is turned on will make it possible to regulate the pressure in the handle. Each model can be matched to the compressor characteristics.

Regardless of the material of manufacture of the tank, which will be fixed on the cartridge pistol with a simple clamp, it is possible to increase the convenience of processing various inclined surfaces by means of transition bells made at an angle of 45 degrees. This will make it possible to keep the tank upright so that there is no overflow of the solution, and the perpendicularity of the spray relative to the processing surface is observed. A cartridge gun for plastering in professional activity is the main occupation of the master, that is, it makes sense to buy a full-fledged miniature plastering station. The package includes a compressor, a pistol, a pair of hopper buckets, one of which is needed for ceiling processing, and a textured hopper pistol. The price of the kit will be from 45,000 to 50,000 rubles, taking into account the fact that all equipment is compatible in terms of power, consumption and so on.

What should you know about devices? A plastering gun requires proper maintenance to prevent damage and damage during operation. The tool can be disconnected from the compressor pneumatic line only when there is no pressure in the hose.

  • The remainder of the solution is drained from the tank, and then it is disconnected. Further, the tube and the supply body are cleaned with clean water, or using special means.
  • Then check that there are no hardened damages and residues that, when reused, will reduce the spray quality and also distort the cone shape.

Transport and storage:

  • The instrument should be completely disassembled and cleaned of the remaining spray solution.
  • It is important to protect the instrument from contact with moisture, which can lead to oxidation and corrosion of the elements.
  • When storing the gun, do not allow it to come into contact with gas and dust, which is corrosive. The room must be well ventilated and dry.

Advantages of using a gun when applying plaster compared to the manual method:

  • Speed - up to 150 squares per day can be processed per day.

  • Density - Application of a fine particle size solution under high pressure will ensure uniformity and a thicker layer, therefore not prone to cracking or flaking.
  • Coating durability.
  • Low price of the tool, if there is a compressor.
