Laying the bed

Planks are planks laid along the perimeter of the foundation and attached to it with anchor bolts.

Floor supports and beams

Beams are the main support elements on which the logs are laid. Supports are pillars made of wood, mounted on concrete, which serve to stabilize the beams and protect them from contact with concrete.

These elements are made from coniferous wood impregnated with a bioprotective compound.

  1. We mark the supports. To do this, draw a plan of their location, indicating the height. Along the line of the location of the supports, we stretch the twine, fixing it on the beds, where the cuts for the beams are made. We measure the height of each support and enter the results into the plan.

  2. We cut a beam of 100 x 100 mm in accordance with measurements. We arrange the blanks in places, laying a layer of waterproofing on the base. We nail the supports with nails to the wooden inserts made during the pouring.
  3. We put the beams in the pocket with the end, use inserts to adjust their height flush with the beds. If the blanks are long, mark the second end of the beam and cut off the excess.

    If short, then we join the beams on the support.

  4. We fasten the beams to the beds and intermediate supports with grooved nails. If the height of the supports is more than 1 m, we strengthen them with slopes from the board.

Strapping and logs

We also perform strapping from a 50 mm board, the width depends on the planned load and the thickness of the insulation.

  1. The strapping is laid on the sides of the house, parallel to the floor beams.

    We put the boards on the end, align them along the outer edge of the bed and fasten them with nails in increments of 20 cm.

  2. We mark the location of the lag. We measure from the corner along the laid board of strapping a step of 40 cm. We lay the boards for the lags on the beams, put them on the side plane and align them according to the markings.
  3. With the length of the board covering the length of the building, on the other hand, we carry out the marking in the same way.

    We cut the logs and fasten them with nails to the harness and beds, check and fasten them to the beams at the intersection.

  4. If the size of the building is larger, then the logs are overlapped. The joint should be on the floor beam. We cut 30 cm intermediate logs and hammer the joints together using the trims as spacers. After we fix the logs on the floor beams.

Floor insulation

The optimal material for insulation is mineral wool. Its disadvantage is the loss of thermal insulation ability when wet. Therefore, we protect the insulation layer with a vapor-waterproofing and windproof film.

If a low-density insulation is selected, we sew a sub-floor treated with biosecurity under the logs.

  1. We lay the vapor barrier film across the logs with sagging, which will allow the insulation to be laid between the logs.

    We glue the joints of the strips with adhesive tape, fasten the film with a stapler.

  2. We put the insulation boards between the logs, leaving no gaps. When double-laying the insulation, overlap the joints of the first with the second layer.

How to make flooring
