  • - inert to liquid passing through the water supply system;
  • - resistant to the reproduction and development of microorganisms on the inner walls;

  • - using thermistor fittings to connect pipes, the assembly of the water supply system takes several hours;
  • - resistance to frost (polyethylene can withstand negative temperatures down to -70 degrees without loss of properties);

THIS IS IMPORTANT: polyethylene does not tolerate ultraviolet rays well, therefore the water supply is laid in the soil or in protective cases.

Quality of HDPE pipes for water supply

  • - regardless of the diameter of the product, the surface of the pipe (both inside and outside ) should be perfectly smooth. Even small defects are not allowed: no cracks, no bubbles, no small inclusions
  • - a high-quality HDPE pipe must withstand pressure up to 20 atmospheres.

Good-quality water pipes are available in diameters from 16 to 1600 millimeters.

They are then dyed black and longitudinal colored stripes are applied to classify them by area of ​​use. The pipes are formed into coils from 100 to 200 meters or separately (the length of one product is 12 meters).

HDPE pipe that is suitable for drinking water has the following technical characteristics:

  • - the following information should be indicated after the marking: diameter, wall thickness, manufacturer's name and strength index (PE100 or PE80)

THIS IS IMPORTANT: GOST does not directly regulate the presence of blue stripes on HDPE pipes, so if they exist, this does not mean that such a pipe is 100% suitable for drinking water. All information contains marking.

The correct pipe for the water supply network is molded from low pressure polyethylene and does not contain any traces of recycled raw materials.

Prices for high-quality HDPE products cannot be significantly lower than market prices. A worthy manufacturer will not work at a loss. When buying, it is better to compare the price of pipes of the same diameter in different stores.So for a HDPE pipe with a diameter of 25, the price in Leroy Merlin and in a regular store can differ significantly.

And for pipes with a diameter of 32 the price will be the same.

Types of low-pressure polyethylene pipes

The entire range of HDPE pipes is divided into two large groups:

  1. Pressure - designed for laying water or gas lines in which the medium passes under pressure
  2. Free-flow - designed for gravity systems (sewer lines and storm channels)

Also, HDPE pipes are divided by type. The most popular and intended for laying water supply networks are products marked SDR 26, 21.17, 13. 6, 11, 9.

The diameters of polyethylene pipes for water supply, which can be bought in Moscow and other cities, vary from 16 mm to 1600 mm. It is necessary to select a HDPE pipe for use in an apartment or house in accordance with the future pressure in the system. Craftsmen recommend laying household water supply networks from products with a diameter of 25 to 32 mm.
