And only after that, the entire surface of the upper box is primed with bitumen and carefully covered with a layer of roofing material to ensure reliable waterproofing.
At the final stage, the structure is dumped with earth, no more than half a meter thick. The construction of the glacier cellar can be completed by covering the cellar with roofing material, on which decorative turf is also poured and installed.
To densely fill the glacier cellar with ice, you need to take care of its high-quality storage. The ice storage will keep ice for a long time, and it will melt during the hot season.
Therefore, high-quality waterproofing of the entire structure and drainage of melt water from the cellar are necessary.
Any glacier cellar has a waterproofing layer, which is laid immediately after digging a burial pit. If an aquifer is found, it is necessary to immediately block it with a cement solution.
The thickness of the protective layer must be at least 50 cm.
Next the entire bottom of the pit is laid out with clay, and only after that the concrete floor is poured.
For high-quality waterproofing, roofing material is laid in two layers on the hardened floor surface, with a certain size margin. The walls of the cellar are also lined with roofing material.
