Usually new generation building materials are designed for a specific application. It is with this use that they show all their working properties. Profiled sheet metal is an exception to the rule.
Today it is one of the highest quality universal materials.

The extensive scope of use has led to the emergence of a huge number of different grades of corrugated board, which have significant differences from each other. To understand their diversity and make the right choice in each specific situation, you need to understand well what exactly the different brands of professional sheet differ in.
Home the difference lies in the following material characteristics:
Trade today offers products of various manufacturers - small and large. Many of them have developed their own specifications for their own products.
It should be borne in mind that the best material is produced according to GOST 24045-94!
This standard strictly regulates:
NS - wall and bearing corrugated board;
MP - wavy corrugated board;
C - wall corrugated board;
H - bearing corrugated board.
It is very convenient that almost all manufacturers use such marking. It shows that the material "НС" and "Н" is most suitable for roofing.
Marking according to GOST 24045-94
According to the indicated GOST, all types of corrugated sheets can be subdivided into the following:
Thinking about which corrugated board to choose for the roof, it is advisable to pay attention to the brands "НС" and "Н"These two grades of corrugated roof sheeting have the same height and profile shape, which provide the roof with a high bearing capacity. It is of great importance for those roofs that are often subjected to high static loads (from a large mass of snow, for example). The maximum bearing capacity is ensured by the special configuration and wave size. Often, such grades of corrugated board are equipped with special stiffeners: they increase the longitudinal stiffness, thereby increasing the bearing capacity of the coating.
Competent choice of corrugated board for the roof significantly depends on its construction .
The slope of the roof is of considerable importance.
The lower its value, the more weight the coating will have to withstand.
In other words, the performance of the roof determines the choice of the brand of corrugated board to cover the roof.
If the roof has a steep slope
For the roof of a small country house, with a steep slope, the C10 model is suitable, which can withstand only the smallest loads, including wind loads. Therefore, in this case, a solid crate will be required.
However, this grade is one of the most inexpensive, and is usually used for siding. I must say that such a choice will help you significantly save financially. The main thing is to remember that it is permissible to purchase it for a small area of a steep roof in a region without strong winds.
If there is no slope - the roof is flat
In the case when it is necessary to cover a flat roof , actively exploited roof, material with additional stiffeners will be required N-75 or N-60. A roof made of such a material will perfectly withstand not only the mass of snow that has fallen, but also the weight of a person who climbed onto it.
What is affected by the thickness of the metal
Among other parameters, when choosing a material for roofing, one should take into account the thickness of the metal. The service life of the coating, in particular, depends on its indicator.
It is recognized that a deck thickening of just 0.1 mm will increase the lifespan of a roof covering by about five years.
The bearing capacity of the material also depends on this indicator.
By varying the width and thickness of the corrugated sheet, you can actually achieve a threefold difference in the maximum load for the same coating model. This is especially important when the roof has a large area. After all, the final cost of the entire floor depends on what specific corrugated board will be used.
Usually for a roof, along with its bearing capacity, its tightness is also important. This criterion should also be considered when choosing a suitable brand.
If possible, it is better to choose a sheet with a capillary mesh along its very edge. Then, with an overlap of only one wave, it is quite possible to do without sealing the joints.
If you have to choose a material for a roof with a large spacing between individual supports and a small slope, it is important to find out if the profile has so-called stiffeners. They really improve the bearing capacity of the profile.
The metal profiled sheet is made of cold-rolled sheet steel, which is coated with zinc electroplating.
The thickness of the zinc layer is the determining factor for the reliability of such a coating.
Manufacturers of rolled metal products produce steel sheets with different coating thicknesses: the possible thickness of zinc is from 100 to 300 grams per square meter. Therefore, when choosing a profiled sheet, it is worth asking how the metal used for its manufacture meets the standards.
But you need to know that galvanizing is the most short-lived and primitive way of protecting against corrosion. Such galvanized corrugated board is usually used for utility blocks, temporary buildings and fences.
In most cases, a more durable sheet with a protective and decorative polymer coating is used for the roof. Of course, its price is much higher, but it performs not only a decorative function.
The polymer, which is part of the coating, guarantees the metal surface additional protection: such a corrugated board can serve twice as long. Therefore, this option is better suited for high-quality roofing.
The profiled sheet can have various types of polymer coating .
.. The most commonly used plastisol, PVDF, polyester and pural.
To correctly determine the choice, you must first understand the characteristics and differences of these coatings.
Plastisol
This is the addition of various plasticizers to polyvinyl chloride, resulting in a rather dense mixture.
Such a coating has a significant thickness, with its help it is possible to reproduce the texture of natural building materials in a very naturalistic way. Plastisol is extremely resistant to almost all external influences.
PVDF
Coating with polyvinyl difluoride acrylic (PVDF) paint began to be used not so long ago. It is distinguished by its extreme resistance to the action of various aggressive media and to harsh ultraviolet light.
Polyester
Coating profiled metal sheet with a special polyester paint is called polyester.
Such coverage is, perhaps, the most budgetary. It is applied in a layer of 20-30 microns, it can be matte or glossy. It has good resistance to temperature extremes and ultraviolet radiation. But since the thickness of the protective layer is too small, it must be protected from gross mechanical damage.
Pural
Pural is the application of a layer of polyurethane-polyamide dye, which gives the surface a matte-silky structure.
Pura coating is applied in a layer up to 200 microns thick: it has high resistance to chemical and mechanical stress.
Roof sheeting must be selected according to the climatic conditions of your region, as well as the expected service life. For example, for a dwelling located on the coast, it is advisable to purchase corrugated board that can withstand environments with increased aggressiveness.
The most reliable in this case will be a pural or PVDF coating, which resists the destructive action of strong winds and high salt content in the air for a good ten years. It is impractical to choose a cheaper polyester, since the salt particles, moved by a strong wind, have a pronounced abrasive effect and can damage the coating.
For a simple suburban building located in the climate of the middle zone, a profiled sheet with plastisol or polyester as a coating is quite suitable. Pural in this case will be unjustifiably expensive, since it is not necessary to use it.
In other words, many different factors should be considered when choosing a roofing sheeting. These include, among other things, the climate of the area where the construction will be carried out, and the planned type of building, its purpose and period of use.
