Removal and disposal of construction waste - we do everything according to the rules. There are very few people who buy apartments, and even fewer who buy real estate in such good condition that they live there for many years without renovation work. Most of the happy new owners of apartments or houses immediately after the purchase begin to make repairs, and if not major, then at least cosmetic. Even with small construction work, it is often necessary to remove construction waste, and it is important that you dispose of it correctly.
Solid waste containers are not suitable for this, so you need to be puzzled and independently start removing construction waste after a major overhaul of the apartment.
Construction waste includes all types of residues that were formed during repair work, construction, demolition, reconstruction creation of outbuildings, fences, roads and other types of structures.
Construction waste may include the following types of materials:
Now that you know what constitutes construction waste, you can see how they are grouped by type.
According to construction rules and regulations (SNiP), a certain classification of construction waste has been established, and they are divided into three main groups.
Let's consider each separately:
- The first group should definitely include the type of waste that was received in as a result of the demolition of buildings and structures, as well as dismantling works in the extension, punching openings or replacing floors. These are large and very heavy fragments, the calculated density of which is 1800 kg / m 3 .
They should be removed even before renovation and construction work begins.
- The second group is mostly packaging and containers from materials, which are also used for finishing work and construction. These can be tin and polymer cans, packaging films, cans of different sizes, paper bags. Excess packaging material with a large accumulation is also taken out from the construction site.
- The third group includes all waste that appeared during repair and construction.
We are talking about the remains of wallpaper, pieces of linoleum flooring, or scraps of gypsum fiber boards / skirting boards.
Interesting fact! Waste of the second and third groups, with their large volume, has a small mass, and the density can vary from 600 to 1200 kg per 1 m 3 . Why do we need information about the density of the garbage? The fact is that it is this information that helps to roughly calculate the volume of containers needed to transport waste with its calculated carrying capacity.
Perhaps you and did not know, but garbage after major repairs can not only interfere, but even be extremely dangerous. Among construction waste after renovation or demolition of the building, there is almost no class 1 and 2 waste - these are substances that have an extremely high hazard.
The only exceptions are some types of solvents, flammable paints and varnishes, as well as fluorescent lamps after dismantling. Highly hazardous substances should not just be thrown away, but handed over for disposal to special organizations for the reception of such materials.
There are also moderately hazardous class 3 wastes, which are presented in the form of wires, acetone, cement dust, as well as building boards, which are made of wood chips impregnated with toxic substances. It is best to trust their disposal only to specialized companies, and not just throw it away, or even worse - take it "just in case" to the country.
There is also non-hazardous and slightly hazardous waste, and fortunately, it is these waste that make up the bulk of construction waste after major repairs.
So, concrete, brick debris, door leaves and floor types of coatings can be attributed to the 4th and 5th class for the hazard of materials. Such waste is often handed over for recycling and reuse. Non-hazardous rubbish after construction or renovation work is often used as a cushion for household waste dumps. When temporarily storing wastes, care should be taken in advance to ensure that they do not in any way pollute the soil, surface and ground waters, or air.
After construction, waste is usually stored in special accumulation points.
In the future, enterprises for the processing of building materials and waste make new materials from them, and if you take out construction waste to the most ordinary landfill, then there will be a separate place for brick and concrete debris on it, and there is certainly a placement limit. In addition, the volume and weight of construction waste often exceed the standards for waste, and therefore the communal services partly take only solid household waste to the landfill. But for storage of the remnants of repairs near containers or throwing them into the tanks themselves for solid waste is punishable by fines.
Yes, yes, the Code of Administrative Offenses even has an article of responsibility for not removing construction waste from sites. There is article 8.
1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, which refers to the punishment if a person refuses to comply with environmental requirements during the repair, construction, decommissioning of structures and buildings.
According to the official comments in the Code of Administrative Offenses, the following violations are named:
- Lack of fencing of the construction site required by the norms.
- Disposal of waste after major repairs outside the construction site.
If you do not pay a fine for not taking out construction waste, then Article 8 41 of the same Code will be applied to a person, and there are already increased penalties. The fact is that the storage of a large volume of construction waste in the wrong place can be interpreted as an unauthorized dump.
If you carry out timely cleaning of construction waste after major repairs, it will be much cheaper than paying fines.
Individuals can be fined from 1,000 to 2,000 rubles for taking out construction household waste to specialized waste containers for MSW. In a similar situation, officials must pay from 2,000 to 5,000 rubles. Fines for the fact that the organization's construction waste will not be removed from 20,000 to 100,000 rubles. If payment for harm to the natural environment is not paid within the established timeframe, then officials must pay from 2,000 to 7,000 rubles, and organizations from 55,000 to 100,000 rubles.
A landfill organized on its own will be punished with a fine of up to 30,000 for officials and up to 200,000 for large organizations.
If you burn wood and paper construction waste yourself, there will be a fire hazard and this can also be punishable by a fine. It is also allowed to destroy wood residues either in the oven of a private house, or in a barrel at a sufficient distance from trees and buildings.
Owners of their cars believe that self-disposal of construction waste is much cheaper than outsourcing. If you have a couple of bags of debris, it will be much easier to take them out yourself.
If you have a lot more debris after a major overhaul, then estimate the amount of waste to call the required vehicle in terms of capacity and carrying capacity.
Most likely, it will be more profitable for you to contact specialized firms than to make several trips to the landfill. Only a truck can handle the removal of large, bulky fragments. If you contact a company that is professionally engaged in export and disposal, there will be no need to find out where the landfill is located, what kind of garbage it will accept.
When transported by car, the wreckage should be placed in a container or body in such a way that the center of gravity is lower than the middle.
A low platform can help to lower the center of gravity. If the load is not properly positioned, the transport may overturn. Awnings or covers can keep debris from spilling out. The contractor may suggest that you put small, light pieces in fabric bags. The transportation route should be designed in such a way that the garbage truck does not need to move along the main street.
Legal entities or individual entrepreneurs must conclude an agreement with the carrier and recipient of construction waste. They will only have the right to place, transport, perform processing if they have a license.
After major repairs, construction waste must be removed and disposed of, and such questions should be thought out in advance. Citizens who are doing home renovations and they can turn to sources such as a property management company, a homeowner partnership, a city help desk, or hometown social media groups and forums for information on the city's landfill. If the property is repaired by a contractor, you can ask their representatives about garbage collection services.
Some firms do this for an additional fee, while others, under certain conditions, take out all waste for free, so you should pay attention to this item (its presence / absence) when choosing a contractor who will make repairs for you.
In new buildings, an organized disposal of construction waste to a landfill is often carried out. The owners of the apartment determine at the general meeting how long they will need this service, and for this period they conclude an agreement with the management company. The removal of waste after overhaul will be indicated in the estimate and receipt in a separate line.
Waste in relation to nature will hit the pocket of the country, and will also harm the environment.
Waste is mostly recyclable and is less costly to recycle than making new materials from virgin raw materials. If your city has a recycling enterprise for construction waste, then they can make new construction and not only materials from waste,
... for example:
- The asphalt debris after being treated with ultra-high temperatures will be suitable for road repair and construction.
- Already used crushed stone from crushed concrete is used for filling foundations, cushions for highways, embankments.
- Pieces of plaster, broken glass can be used as a filler for cement mortar when pouring foundations, paths, walls from outbuildings.
- Drainage systems should be backfilled with brick fragments.
- Metallic elements such as rebar can be used for ferrous metal recycling.
- Door frames, window frames, plank floors can be burned in an oven to generate heat.
Properly organized disposal of construction waste will help save resources in order to produce new useful construction materials. Using bricks and concrete as secondary raw materials will be more profitable for large processing volumes.
