It is impossible to imagine any construction or repair work without the use of equipment, among which a construction pencil is considered an indispensable element.
This article will focus on this particular pencil and why and why the construction pencil is not round.
Is it worth it to overpay for a construction pencil, because you can take a simple stationery, which is several times cheaper.
Is this so?
Note: For small repairs, an ordinary simple pencil will also work , but for large-scale works it is better to purchase special tools.
The following differences stand out:
In it, it is harder, so it will not require frequent sharpening. A simple one often has to be sharpened, since its core is very quickly subject to abrasion on a hard surface. The lead is also oval, thick and quite stiff. It can be used to draw both thin lines for accurate cuts, and thicker ones that will be visible at long distances.
He's not just like that. Firstly, because of its shape, it is not able to roll off an inclined surface, be it a table, a roof, or a hand with a glove.
Note : Modern developers offer an automatic version of such a pencil, where the core comes out with a special press of a button. In terms of cost, this type is more expensive, but in terms of practicality it is ahead of the standard.
The main feature, as mentioned earlier, is the form construction pencil.
A flat tool will not rotate in the hand, roll off inclined and horizontal surfaces.
The shaft is strong and bold. They can leave markings even on uneven and rough surfaces.
There is no eraser at the end of such a pencil. As a rule, they are produced in two colors - yellow and red.
As for sharpening such a pencil, you won't get off with a simple sharpener. A large shaft will not work with a small sharpener. How then to sharpen it? Sharpening can be done with a simple carpenter's knife.
Any master always has a tape measure, pencil, stationery knife at hand. He needs these items to mark the surface.
For example, draw lines where the planks will be attached or a hole made, etc. It will be difficult to do this with a simple pencil, because it will leave faint marks, and on some surfaces it will not be able to write at all. It is also fragile, you have to constantly sharpen it and, moreover, it can break.
Note: Construction pencil can draw on brick, wood, concrete surfaces, as well as on plaster.
Thus, there is no complex surface for a construction pencil, it leaves traces even on rough surfaces and is practically not washed off by sediments.
The undoubted advantage of this pencil is its shape, thanks to which it is convenient to hold it with a gloved hand, smeared in a solution. Also, if you put a round pencil on the table, it can roll away, and the construction one will remain in the same place. Everyone will agree that every time you work to look for the right item, it really interferes.
Due to its oval shape, the lead leaves a wide line when drawn from the center. Doesn't require frequent sharpening.
This pencil is purposefully made larger and stronger than a regular paper pencil, so that did not break, being in the same suitcase with construction tools, did not break when dropped.
Note: Made in bright colors for the convenience of finding it in the process.
There are special sharpeners for these pencils, although any master will do it simply with a regular knife.
Also, some craftsmen use sandpaper, a grinder and even an ax in order to sharpen the rod. The peculiarity of sharpening a construction pencil is that it is sharpened only from two wide sides. An ordinary pencil is sharpened from all sides in the form of a point.
It is also important to hold the construction pencil correctly on the right side. You can easily get used to it as soon as you pick it up.
Advice from the master: If you glue a magnet to the side of the pencil with super glue, then at the same time you will still get an excellent device for reaching metal objects - bolts, self-tapping screws, etc., which have fallen into narrow slots. The advantages of such a device are that it will always be at hand.
